You don't need a separate partition for that. You put the .iso file on the / partition of your existing Mint. All you have to do is install the ubiquity program. That is the Mint installation program. Boot into the Mint you have installed on your hard drive. Run the ubiquity program to install Mint...

Replacing the ~/.cache/thumbnails folder with a file does the trick. Your GUI will just try to make a thumbnail and fail every time. Peculiar way, but should work... :lol: is there a chance to completely turn off the creation of thumbnails in the home .cache folder? i have already scrabbled around ...

I don't know what you mean by "live boot". If you are saying that you want to install Mint a second time to a different partition, that is no problem. Live boot just like a live usb. A separate partition on the HDD where a live cd/dvd will reside and by booting it I will get a live system from wher...

In my experience Unity is pretty much stable though it doesn't give a good feel to the users. And 14.04 is stable too. I have been using Xubuntu 14.04 (Ubuntu+XFCE) from when it came to be and it's performance is flawless whatsoever. I am guessing you did some mistakes somewhere or something like th...

Installing a dual boot with an additional live boot system

I am thinking of installing a dual boot with win10 and a live boot of LM in my 2TB portable HDD. I know that a dual boot is possible, but not sure about the third one. My boot options should be like this: 1. (partition#1) LM 2. (partition#2) Windows 3. (partition#3) LM live other data partitions.......
