Midi Files

Hello everybody,
I just found out that XMMS with the Midi plugin will play midi files thru Timidity.
The advantage is that you can add play lists to it.

But after trying it a few times I found out that it freezes. It plays one file and afterwards you can't use it again.

Request for help

Hello Clem, It's nice to know that. Thanks. Yesterday I installed another distro on my test disk (it's supposed to be one of those wonder distros). Well, believe me! I got so annoyed with it (configure this and configure that), that I wiped the thing right off the disk! Bea is a beauty, I'm hooked o...

Questions about Linux Mint

Hi friedtofu, Thanks for your info. So you confirm the fact that a KDE installation doesn't give you the Screen Resolution option. A kubuntu-desktop installation will give you every package included in Kubuntu Edgy and, as a matter of fact, all the packages of Edgy are simultaneously installed on th...

Request for help

Hello scorp123 and friedtofu, Thanks to both of you. Since I had more problems (ISP down) and also tried to install another Linux distro on my test disk, I had to format it and re-installed Linux Mint Bea today. Well, this solved my problems. I am back on line now, hopefully with no problems on the ...

Questions about Linux Mint

Thanks friedtofu, You hit the nail on the head with the ipv6 problem. It finally turned out to be the setting of Faster Fox. I had it set to Turbo Charged and setting to Optimized seems to have cured my problem, in some way. It remains to check my graphics card configuration. The system seemed to wo...

Request for help

Hi, Can anybody explain to me what the following messages mean and how to fix the problem? Info: I have installed Kubuntu desktop on Linux Mint Bea. Neither the Gnome desktop nor the Kde one will start after the splash screen, sometimes. And at times I get an 'OUT OF RANGE' message on the dark scree...

Suggestions & Feedback

Hi Clem,
As more people are joining the forum it becomes obvious that new headings should be added in order to facilitate finding a topic of interest.

For this reason I think that a 'Request for Help' or (Help me) heading should be created.

Just an idea.

Re: I like it!

I like the LinuxMint 2.1 beta I have installed. The only suggestion I can make is to make it as easy to use as possible. There are many out here like myself who are older and/or technically challanged  We don't understand any of the lingo associated with linux. Don't know how to enter command...

Hello quickstart, Merry Christmas.

Quote:
"If Linux is so good, how come I can't get all that spyware and virus stuff...?"

Well, it's a good question. I think, Clem should include some of that stuff in the next version of Mint. :o lol

Flag avatars

Hello everybody, As more and more people are joining the Forum, I have to go to the Flag Avatar site, most of the time, to see what country is represented. You see, I've never been very good in Geography. If anybody wants to use a flag Avatar, it's his privilege. But wouldn't it be easier if the nam...

Linux Mint as a Package for Ubuntu

I could never download Ubuntu Edgy without any problems in the ISO file :?

I tried and tried again. Maybe that was good for me because I discovered Linux Mint. Good for Mint, too.

As far as your question is concerned, that was already done by Clem, I think.

Linux Mint as a Package for Ubuntu

Hello scorpion 123,

I am already running Kubuntu Edgy on my Bea istallation. That way you get lots of packages not included in Mint. I do have a couple of problems though.
