Alright, I removed kubuntu desktop: sudo apt-get remove kubuntu-desktop. Installed KDE. This resulted in the addition of numerous software pacages from the KDE environment. 16 additional graphics and a lot of educational and game software among other things. The splash screen is now KDE 3.5. There i...

OK. It was a bad idea installing Kubuntu desktop. The splash screen is Kubuntu and there are some problems. Applets missing and some applications don't run.
Perhaps, installing just KDE with Synaptic might work better, if anybody wants to try it.
There was no similar problem with Barbara.

Hello Root, BEA is looking good! So far, no major problems. Well, with graphics I understand you had to save some room in the CD Iso. But one can always install the graphics of his choise with Synaptic. I just installed the Kubuntu desktop. It started with the Kubuntu splash screen. Will see if ther...

OK, let's get down to business. After a very good download from the good people of LinTelligence.de, Checksums came out OK. Live CD bug: Pressing F4 I selected resolution as 1024x768, but after the splash screen the system reverted back to 1280x1024. A similar problem exists in Dapper and Edgy. Not ...

Welcome BEA

Welcome Bea, You are looking very nice, so let's get acquainted. I ,m just testing the desktop CD I downloaded a few minutes ago. First impressions are good. Just a little slow at starting up, but I guess this was true even with Ubuntu Edgy. Well, I'll have to come back later today. At 4.15 in the m...

Linux Mint

Hello again everybody, As I mentioned in my first message, I have been an Ubuntu/Kubuntu entusiast for quite some time. Since I started testing the Mint, I feel at home with it and I am really pleased to see that it is Edgy in a Sunday dress. I see that the first enthusiasm is gone and the Mint's po...

The Terminal

Hi everybody, The Terminal! I have always been afraid of the monster, considering myself a newbie, tho I have been involved with Linux for some time now. Believe me, I consider lucky the fellows who have mastered it. But those are what we call Gurus. I envy them. But not all of us can be that smart....

The Mint

Hi everybody,
Here is my description of the Mint. Webster's dictionary says, I quote:

Any place regarded as a source of unlimited supply;
the supply itself.

This is a keeper for sure. It's gorgeous, uber-functional and presents Gnome in an attractive way. The guys who put this together are to be congratulated AND encouraged. h OK! After using The Mint for some time, I'm getting to like it more. But let's be fair. Its success is due to the fact that it ...

Dirty software?

Hi all,
Having proprietary software available to every one who
cannot afford to buy it is really a service to humanity. After all what does the Ubuntu spirit stand for?

Timidity midi player

Hi again Fragadelic, I've been a music lover ever since I was a baby. I often, during my youth, used to buy and try to master anything that made a sound, starting with a wooden flute, a harmonica and accordion in turn, a guitar, and ended up with an electronic keyboard (the dream of my life). Of cou...
