Re: How do I completely uninstall Firefox from Linux Mint

sudo apt purge firefox Delete .mozilla/firefox/ in your home directory, should it still be there Delete .macromedia/ and .adobe in your home directory, these can contain "Flash Cookies" stored by the browser. The same is true, if applicable, for Silverlight (Moonlight) and other plugins, they can a...

Re: Remote Desktop Type Client - Windows to Mint

For LAN use I prefer VNC. You would have to install a VNC server on Mint, and a VNC viewer of some sort on Windows. For internet use, I prefer AnyDesk for ease of use and speed. I use AnyDesk several times every week to access my Mint box at home while at the office on a Windows computer. Can also w...

Re: Question about preferred remote access tool

For WAN use I prefer AnyDesk, which is advertised as "The Fast Remote Desktop". For LAN use, VNC seems just as fast if not slightly faster, and is what I usually use.

Re: Problem with password , when enter always say wrong

Open a text editor and type in the password in exactly the same way, so you can see the output. May be a mismatch of keyboard layout or caps lock on or similar. Anyway, if you can see the output you will know what the problem is.

Re: Lost ability to print from Windows VM Mint 19.2 host

Thanks for taking the time to reply deepakdeshp . I don't think my problem is related to the Windows ip address because I can still browse the shared directories on the VM from Linux Mint, just cannot go the other way and connect with Mint from Windows VM. That said, I've started looking around on t...

Lost ability to print from Windows VM Mint 19.2 host

I have been printing just fine for weeks (months?), documents from a Windows VM (VirtualBox) to a hp printer connected to my Cinnamon 19.2 host. About a week ago, I noticed the ability to print was gone. Then I discovered there was no network connection between the VM client and host. Cannot print, ...

Re: Remote desktop access

+1 for AnyDesk. I use it almost every day (used to use Teamviewer). Also use VNC when dealing with LAN computers, but always AnyDesk for WAN work, because it's so easy to use.

Re: why are linux image editing apps so horrible?

I usually use Pinta also. When I need to do something that Pinta cannot I go to GIMP. When I don't know how to accomplish the task in GIMP (which is almost every time I use it), there is plenty of help online to get the job done.

Re: Neptune 6 - worth checking out

I've used Q4OS in the past and was pleased with it. Have Debian with KDE currently installed on one of my ThinkPads and it's working just fine. What does Neptune offer that plain ol' Debian doesn't?

Re: Shutdown vs Suspend

It's a good rule to follow, but if stuff is in use 24/7... then what are you gonna do? Doesn't mean I have to be sitting in front of my computer for it to be doing something useful to me.

Good catch DAMIEN... I don't think I understood what buayadarat meant by "I can find it in Synaptic", because now that I've looked for myself, it's not there.

Re: Shutdown vs Suspend

My desktop is kept running 24/7 for convenience sake, and so I can easily remote into it when I'm away if need be. However, we just returned from a 5 day trip, during which time I had shut down other my desktop and NAS. Something I almost never do, but knew I would not be able to log in while away, ...

Re: How to find and start a .deb-application?

If you used your web browser to download the .deb package, you will likely find it in your downloads directory. Just double click on the file, and it should open with gdebi package manager and install. If you can find the package in Synaptic that means it's available in the repository and can be ins...

Re: Why is MX-Linux more popular than LinuxMint?

Even if MX Linux were a more popular distro than Mint, there is no shame in using what you like. Who cares if others like something else. Linux is all about choice. Personally, I use MX on a few of my machines, and like it very much. I also us Mint on a couple of computers. In fact my main desktop r...

Part of my brother-in-law's business involves photo printing, and you just cannot get as good a print with laser as a good ink jet photo printer will produce.

Re: Nvidia Graphics driver lines across screen

Driver Manager should offer both the NVIDIA binary driver and the Nouveau (open-source) driver as options. Just choose the one you want, and reboot.
