no, not the app startup manager - grub, the os startup manager. i've triple booted with win7 and mint10 and mint12 is now the default.

god, i really hate mint12 ....

Re: Linux Mint 12 "Lisa" released!

i've reverted back to m10 on all my machines save one. i think m10 is the most tweakable, functional, featured, user friendly and stable release of mint to date, even better than m11 which has its limitations. i've still got a machine running m12, to see and test any new updates and hoping it will c...

Re: Linux Mint 12 "Lisa" RC released!

after using mint11 for the last 5 dayze i back tracked yet again - mint10 is more user friendly and tweakable than mint11. mint12 is a waste - at least for right now, too many issues of which some are bugs but mostly it's just not at all user friendly with too many clicks to get at what ya need. min...

Re: Linux Mint 12 "Lisa" released!

as i posted elsewhere ... after a few solid weeks of mint12 i'm packing it in and going back to mint11 on my three main machines. m12 is just too cumbersome to navigate, whilst m11 has everything i need within 1 click and does it better and faster. i'll still keep a machine running m12, to keep on t...

Re: Linux Mint 12 "Lisa" released!

either i'm doing something wrong or there is a different email/browser interaction with mint12 than with mint10 - when viewing an email with a link posting in the body content, clicking on that link in mint10 takes you right to that browser page every time ... however, in min12 you only get an alert...

Re: Linux Mint 12 "Lisa" released!

I am running "Lisa" on an Acer Aspire Revo (Nettop) http://tiny.cc/1vn2l with 1 gb of Ram and a single core 1.6 ghz processor and it's faster than Win 7 and Ubuntu 11.10 (I triple boot), so if it's slow on a PC with a those specs something is wrong with the computer!! Nothing is wrong with my compu...

Re: Linux Mint 12 "Lisa" RC released!

Slow is the word. I have MInt 12 32 bit installed on a quad core intel pc. It is so slow that I will look for something else. Slower than any version of KDE that I have seen. Firefox 8.0 just crawls. My day-to-day production distro is Ubuntu 10.10. I also keep updated Mepis 11 kde, and crunchbang s...

Re: Linux Mint 12 "Lisa" released!

just loaded m12 into a new hp pavillion using an AAHD2-HY mb and a AMD Radeon HD 6530D vid card. serious display problems - was there an ati video issue mentioned? if so, workaround? Are you using the open source radeon drivers, or the proprietary fglrx Catalyst ones? ati/amd drivers. look m12 devs...

The "show date in clock" is in Advanced settings, Shell tab.
ah, there it is, hidden away ... thanx. would've been easier to just add a click box to the date/time window.

Re: Linux Mint 12 "Lisa" RC released!

where's the "show the date" option that still seems to be missing from the date and time settings in m12rc? if something as simple as that hasn't yet been implemented, the m12 first stable release probably has a long way to go. personally, anyone that new to mint would be best to start using m10. if...

so far for me, close, but no cigar.

then again, any rc version can be light years away from the first REAL deployment.

installing evoluton v3.1 ?

just what it sez. evolution 2.3 works just fine, but updating it to v3.1 or installing v3.1 new, that's the challenge. this is the part of linux that's reasonably frustrating to most, adding or updating apps. with any ms os, you just run an exe install file. with linux, well, it's confusing to say t...

Re: Installing a new version of pingus? - SOLVED!

figured it all out. in terminal, i changed directory to where the "Makefile" was located and created a "build" sub-dir. the pingus.linux install docs left out the "-f" switch for the make ... % make -f Makefile ... after the build, i cd'd over the build directory and ... % ./pingus ... gave me a ter...

Re: Installing a new version of pingus?

Compilation: ------------ Once all libraries are in place, you can compile Pingus with just: % make or % mkdir -p build % scons src % scons i loaded the required libraries, that was easy. now "make" what? since that doesn't do anything, don't i need a specific location address of a folder/file? i h...

what i don't understand is the address of the components. i've done app installs via terminal/sudo before, but here's a brief for the pingus install text ... so i have the downloaded folder with all the files that needs to get compiled and made, using terminal/sudo.

Re: mintinstall update error ... (SOLVED)

turns out that the file in question was corrupt (on my machine) - since i have 3 other pc's running mint 7, i copied and overwrote it, ran mintinstall and updated the system. i love super simple solutions.
