[solved] How to set a short user password for users?

Hi, I upgraded to Mint Gloria 64, but it does something my Linux has never done before: forcing me to pick longer passwords for other users. My main account password is 5 characters long and was set during installation, there was a warning, but I could choose to keep the password anyway. Now I added...

Re: cubemodel crashes compiz, please help

Hey, are you trying to be a total .... ??? Of course I know what 'unsupported' means, I asked if ANYONE got it working on Mint and if so, how! If you are not one of them, STFU!!!! Sorry for being angry, but that was your intention, right??? edit: With the image removed, your last post looks not half...

Re: How to get alt-f2 back with compiz on kde4?

Of course, but I didn't find any help there. This problem seems to be Mint specific, I don't have it with Mepis which also uses kde and compiz.

Re: cubemodel crashes compiz, please help

http://wiki.compiz-fusion.org/ Thanks for the link, but I already knew about it, and cubemodels is not mentioned there... I need help with troubleshooting the experimental cubemodel plugin, it works fine on my Mepis system, but in Mint it crashes as soon as I try to add any model. In Mepis I use co...

Re: How to get alt-f2 back with compiz on kde4?

CompizConfig Settings Manager -> Commands (right on the top) -> Key Bindings Tab Sorry, this doesn't help. In these settings, I can set up ten commands to be run with hotkeys, but that's not what I want. I want the good old standard alt+f2 to run ANY command I input. It would also help me to be abl...

Where to get gsmartcontrol?

Hi,
does anyone know a repo from which I can install gsmartcontrol? Its a neat graphical fontend for smartmon (hard drive health status). I really need this, because I had some problems with failing harddrives in this machine, and I must know if/when anything suspicious happens again.

Hi,
I finally got compiz running on kde 4 with six cube faces and six different wallpapers. But when I want to add a cubemodel, compiz crashes! Why? Did anyone got cubemodels running?

How to get alt-f2 back with compiz on kde4?

Hi,
I changed my windowsmanager in kde4 to compiz. Everything works well, but alt-f2 to run a program does no longer work. Any idea how to get it back?

How to reconfigure all packages?

Hi, I installed Mint Gloria and then added a lot of stuff with synaptic, e.g. kde4. But something went wrong, a package could not be configured. This isn't too bad, because it was not really needed anyway. Bad thing is, it was in the middle of the process, so about half of the programs were installe...

Re: Really bad sound quality on Laptop

Maybe it's just the gnome sound settings? As I said, I'm a total noob with gnome, have been using kde for 10 years. Is there anything like kmix for gnome? Or like the kde-sound-system settings where you can select sound quality vs. usage of system resources?

Re: Really bad sound quality on Laptop

In Pardus do you use pulse audio? Yes, I do. But before Pardus and Mint, I had an older Suse (9 I think), Mepis 6 and Sidux Erebos (only one at a time) on that laptop (as you can see, I've had it for quite a few years) and I never had any audio problems. Mint is the first one that gives me problems...

Re: Really bad sound quality on Laptop

Try the simplest workaround before getting your hands dirty: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=6664074&postcount=7 I tried these settings but they didn't help one bit - the only thing they did were to prevent my laptop's power management from working and thus making a proper shutdown impossibl...

compiz: mouse wheel cube rotate lost - how to ... (solved)

Hi, after I installed Mint, I decided to switch one compiz option off: desktop change on mouse wheel rotation which resulted either in the viewports scrolling by (flat desktop) or the cube rotating (cube desktop) when the mouse wheel was rotated outside of a window. This was enabled by default for v...

Re: Resizing avi files

Recode the files you want to resize with avidemux separately. Select video option "same quantizer as input" and add a reseize filter for the new size. Then, when all the videos have the same resolution, you can load them all into avidemux (add) and select copy for video to join them together. hope t...
