Re: Linux Mint 10 and Windows XP Setup Query

Hey Guys Thanks for the suggestions and help. It all looks promising.

I am back at work (unfortunately) and at home I am doing backups and restore functions (two and a half days later and still going!) before following up on your advice.

Will let you know how things work out.

Regards

Re: Linux Mint 10 and Windows XP Setup Query

Thanks for the advice. When I set the bios to boot from the Windows XP hard drive, it boots into XP with no option to get Linux. If I disconnect the XP hard drive it boots OK into Linux. I did this and updated grub as suggested. Then I shut down, plugged in the XP hard drive and started up again, bu...

Linux Mint 10 and Windows XP Setup Query - SOLVED

I have had Windows XP installed on its own hard disk drive and working alongside Linux Mint on another hard disk drive for about five versions of Mint. I am now on Linux Mint 10. It is configured for my use and don't want to change up to a new Linux version just yet. The Windows XP hard drive has re...

I have a desktop computer with two hard drives. One has Mint 10 (sda) and one has Windows XP (sdb). When I switch on it gives me the option of loading Mint or XP (with Mint the default load). My XP hard drive has recently crashed and I will need to reinstall the XP operating system on a new hard dri...

Re: Wireless USB adapter install - Billion BiPAC 3011N

OK tried that but still can't see the Billion adapter. 'Connection information' shows the rt73usb driver which is working fine with the TP-Link 54mps adapter. In my Windows XP operating system partition I get 120 mps from the Billion adapter. Am still hoping to get it working with Linux Mint. Thanks...

Re: Wireless USB adapter install - Billion BiPAC 3011N

Hi 'Remoulder' thanks for the suggestion. No response in the terminal to those commands lsusb or lsmod when the adapter is plugged in (either alone or as well as my TP-Link 54mps adapter). When i only have the old adapter plugged in I get he following response to those two commands. jungle@belinda ~...

Wireless USB adapter install - Billion BiPAC 3011N (SOLVED)

I am trying to install a Billion BiPAC 3011N USB wireless adapter. It came with a Linux driver (rtl8192su). My operating system is Linux Mint 10 (64 bit) which is based on Ubuntu 10.10 (Linux 2.6.35). I have checked the Realtek drivers and there is a new driver RTL8712 (suggested on one of the UBUNT...

No Internet Connection [SOLVED]

Since moving up to Helena from Gloria I seem to have a lot of difficulty accessing the internet. Especially over the past fortnight it has been rare for me to gain access to the Internet from Linux Mint. The Update padlock shows as broken and I cannot access Firefox. Re: How to login as root to change udev rule? (SOLVED)

Right clicking on the actual rules.d directory did respond when i selected open as root. BUT advice re the use of the terminal and entering "gksudo gedit /lib/udev/rules.d/50-udev-default.rules" has done the trick just great.

Many thanks.

Re: scan-utility in combination with brother dcp-115c scanner

I have upgraded to Helena and now have to reinstall my Brother Printer Scanner. OK I have managed to confirm the md5sum via Windows and have since installed Gloria, which I am VERY happy with. I have managed to reinstall Brother printer/scanner drivers and now only need to make one more change, but the system won't allow me to do it. The Brother solutions centre indicates how t...
