Very nice, a link to read more about this would be even nicer. Doesn't affect my opinion that Clem is right to keep touch screen functionality at arm's length for the laptop version, though.

Re: Screen shot - how to post? (solved)

Am I terribly behind the times using this method with no websites involved? The lines in bold only have to be done once, thereafter it's one click stuff. Right click the Menu item Accessories > Screenshot & choose Add to panel Make a subfolder inside /home/Pictures called screenshot (-s plural if yo...

A Euro layout to add to Settings -> Keyboards ?

In this link, someone has developed a QWERTY layout where the 3rd & 4th level chooser keys handle the special characters in an intuitive way that will seem logical to a lot of people who work in at least two European languages. http://eurkey.steffen.bruentjen.eu/start.html Would it be worth getting ...

Re: Cinnamon touchscreen

What made Windows 8 so appalling? Microsoft trying to square a circle and make one single product for the desktop/laptop user AND the tablet user. Maybe they just did it wrong, I don't know, but doing it right might divert a huge percentage of developer resource time from more needful things. Might ...

Re: Good way to configure or edit keyboard layout?

Looks like nobody has any better ideas. No time-savers anyway. If I were using more of those symbols than I do, but didn't want to use dead keys, I'd go to Settings > Keyboard and grab a screenshot of the Preview pop-up of English (US), International with dead keys (the most comprehensive choice I f...

So this is just to keep it separate in case of loosing your Install on your HDD? or does it also have something to do with speed? Zzzoooooooooooooooooooom ! Re: Problem while making a linux multiboot USB

Sadly this machine has no DVD burner/player, nor do I currently own an external.
This on the website... Rescatux 0.30.2 Cdrom or USB ISO for x86 or amd64 (Sourceforge) ...would indicate that the USB option is viable instead, so I'm downloading the ISO now to save.

Re: Can't Update

I don't think you can update LM14, as it isn't supported any more, all those errors mean you are just being ignored. You need to save all your own data to an external hard disk, and make a list of things in your LM14 Menu, Desktop and Panels that you want to keep. This includes stuff you added yours...

Re: Q - Can anyone help with information on Linux's OS's

I only really know about 3 of them but I'll start the ball rolling. xfce is Mint slightly light, but not so light it's useless, by no means. Good for older hardware, smaller memories, slower chips. KDE is the opposite, packed with bells and whistles and definitely for those that love tinkering, need...

Re: Problem while making a linux multiboot USB

I broke enough things already this week, Pat. I visited, made a choice, and have two questions. supergrub2.png First, look at the background below the green box. That's the choice I made, I skipped the 'Rescatux' option on the Downloads menu and went straight to 'Supergrub2 disk'- the right choice, ...

Re: Problem while making a linux multiboot USB

Thanks austin-texas. That sounds like an excellent solution, I'll certainly go to the website and check it out. I was contemplating going way, way back to easy2boot, which did work for me a couple of times, but I was never able to get proficient with it and always had to start from square one. So ye...

Re: Problem while making a linux multiboot USB

[ I am a bit confused. But, to clarify, you are trying to run the MultiSystem program installed on your hard drive, right? And it will not run to allow you to add a new iso to your usb? You are entirely right, and it was my confusion that confused you :? But now the difference is - you're no...

Re: Problem while making a linux multiboot USB

My live Mint is already on a Multisystem USB, not a DVD. That Multisystem is the one with the gtkdialog that, it tells me, needs updating. It also contains 4 ISOs; LMC17 64bit, LMC17 32bit, LM17KDE 64bit, and Clonezilla....trusty-amd64 So as I understand your Cheat method, I need a 2nd USB with LMC1...
