kind of partitions needed for a new installation [SOLVED]
Although or because I still have a partition problem on another PC, I need to install LM20 Cinnamon on another PC. On my still workhorse system LM 17.3 KDE I am very happy with the partitions I have. The following shows the shortend content of /etc/fstab # <file system> <mount point> <type> <options...

Re: home folder not mounted to /home
Why Timeshift - because Timeshift is not in sda6. On the other side mounting should happen during the installation process. I do not want to exclude that I made a mistake. Is there a chance to repair the system in the way that sda6 is properly mounted at /home and that Timeshift files are in a direc...

conversion vfc to csv [SOLVED]
LM 20 Cinnamon Evolution
I need to unify and clean up several address books. I can export all, except Evolution address book, into CSV format and do the clean up work in LibO calc.
Is there a tool which converts vcf-files into csv-files, idealy bi-drectional?
Thanks for your hints in advance!

@RIH Thanks a lot for your information. I create /share/freemind. and unzip the file into this folder. But I have a question about the usage of the freemind.sh file. Start by allowing the file freemind.sh to be executed as a program in it's property permissions. Open freemind.sh & allow it to Ru...

/home folder on desktop - how to remove [SOLVED]
LM20 Cinnamon
I suddenly have a /home folder icon on my desktop and don't know how it came there.
For me it is enough to see that in the Nemo file manager.
How can I get rid of this icon?
i don't dare to try the menu item unmount.
Thanks in advance for helping comments

Re: not enough free space in /var/cache/....
@Larry78723 Thanks for your comment on the space in /. I am wondering why LM 20 Cinnamon needs so much more space the LM17.3 KDE. On my LM 17.3 machine the root contains 29 GB data, where as on the LM 20 machine it contains already 36.1 GB. On the LM 20 machine there are several bigger applications ...

@kelevra
Also thanks to you for sharing your experience.
i will now see if I can possible replace my 500 GB HDD with a 500 GB SSD. I prefer the SSD because I am using the PC on a boat thus have vibrations.

Re: not enough free space in /var/cache/....
@JerryF Your comment made me looking into details: The attached screenshots show what is in /run/timeshift/backup/timeshift, thus in the root partition. Checking Timeshift's settings shows the /home partition is checked. However, I did not find any folder or file related to timeshift. Now I wonder w...
