SSD boot time

I recently changed from Xfce 17.3 to KDE 18.2 and I love KDE but the long boot time was driving me mad (I know its far heavier). I had reluctantly decided to go back to Xfce but as an experiment I thought I would try an SSD. I bought a 60gb Kingston of Ebay for £30, wow what a Difference. Boot time ...

Re: LMDE 2 Cinammon Dropbox

Thanks for the reply, I have already tried installing Dropbox both ways and it still won't run. You can see this from the terminal output in my first post. There is no problem with the actual install.

Re: LMDE 2 Cinammon Dropbox

Didn't get anywhere with this and couldn't get Picasa to work either (tried all the 32bit tweaks) so i have gone to KDE 32bit and everything works fine.

Will 32 bit eventually fade out as a system?

Lmde2 Cairo dock

Have just been trying Lmde2 Cinnamon and must say I quite like it. I have installed Cairo Dock but my favourite icon, Quick Browser, which lets you browse the folders and then lets your just open the file doesn't work. The pop-up menus appear but it doesn't open the files. Don't suppose there is any...

Make a Link

XFCE 17.3 32 bit

Previously I have used the "make a link " option when you right click on a folder. Now it doesn't do anything.

Do I need to be in root?

Re: Dropbox problem

Thank for the swift reply.

It was my fault, the command was there but I was looking at the bottom of the list and I had put a space in front of the command line. If all well tomorrow I will mark as solved.

Cinnamon 18.1 64 bit.

Resolution for my second monitor has suddenly moved from 1680x1050 to 1024x768. That is now the max setting in the Display window. Laptop screen is reading correct at. 1366x768.

How do i get the correct setting back please?

Re: VLC query.

Thanks for that. I tried your solution and it now opens to full screen, which is great, but still doesn't autorun on re-insertion. I think the problem may be caused by the disc not being unmounted when ejected. If I manually unmount the dvd after ejection it reruns as it should.. I am setting up thi...

Re: VLC query.

Thanks for the replay. All settings are correct. The problem is autoplay doesn't work if you stop the dvd remove and then replace it.

VLC query.

Xfce 17.3. 32bit laptop

If I put in a dvd VLC autoruns. If I eject the dvd and then reinsert nothing happens, opening VLC manually doesn't show the dvd.
Xfce on my desktop top, re-insertion brings up VLC showing the dvd and I click play.

Which settings do I alter?

Thanks
