Re: Mate 18 auto login

I have been playing about with this problem and found my password was too short, I did get a warning on the initial install but as usual ignored it.

Auto login is now working but I still get the login screen asking to select a user, there is only one. How do I disable this screen please?

Re: Mate 18.0 backup Appearance

Thanks for your reply. I have Xfce 32bit Clonzilled on my main computer, I am playing with three spare hard drives with Mate 64bit to get a setup I like to transfer to the main. Some program setups I have altered I like and some I don't so I don't want to transfer every setting. Plus I have never ha...

Isn't there a folder for the Appearance settings?

If I copy across the home folder to a new install won't it put settings in for other programs?

As the title, having spent hours altering here and there I don't want to lose the setting.

Thanks.

Mate 18 auto login

Just loaded Mate 18.0 and it keeps asking for login on startup and screensaver, setting are ticked for auto login in both cases.

Am I missing something?

PS it was installed with the auto login ticked.

Re: Yahoo/Chromium Problem Mint 17.1Mate

Just checked on my 64bit computer and https works so it must be just 32bit version of Chromium.

Any solution?

Re: Mint KDE 17.3/ 18.0

Thanks for the reply, I think I will stick with 18.0 for now and then try 18.1.

As usual I am just experimenting, I have various desktops and laptops I have been given as non-working and have Xfce Mate KDE and AntiX installed depending on the specs.

Mint KDE 17.3/ 18.0

I have been trying Mint KDE on a laptop. I love the appearance of 18.0 but 17.3 boots a lot quicker ( just over 1 min to 1.5mins).

Anyway I can put the 18.0 appearance on 17.3?

Thanks.

Re: Mint for Elderly

I feel the way he uses the mouse is incorrect so he needs a little 'training' for that. He literally uses strength all the way from his shoulder to click on the mouse instead of simply using his finger. So there is a huge jerky movement of the mouse pointer when he clicks on any icon and at times t...

Re: Mint for Elderly

I would suggest a Logitech trackball mouse, worked well for my shaky handed neighbour as you can click without moving the cursor.

Also if possible a wired network connection.

Re: Chromium Keyring password

Presumably the other solution is to go back to the previous version of Chromium which doesn't ask for the keyring.

Bluetooth

Mint XFCE 17.3 32bit.

After a struggle I had Blueman working with my phone. At first I couldn't find where the images had gone but finally tracked them down to usr/public.

I can't find an option to change the default location to the pictures folder.

Any way to do it?

Thanks.

Screen after Grub Menu

I have Xfce 32bit 17.2 dual boot with Windows and Grub Customizer installed.

When I boot, after the grub menu, I just get a black screen till the desktop appears, on my single boot laptop I get the nice LM logo before the desktop.

Can I put this screen on the dual boot?

Thanks.

Re: Mate or xfce?

I prefer XFCE over Mate as I find the start menu far more logical. I have loaded it on various computers, new and old, and never had a problem with things not working or missing programs.
