Re: Dual Boot - Linux Mint and Windows 7

There should not be a problem as long as you are downloading and installing the latest version of Linux Mint. There is special booting software called "grub 2" which should handle the installation of windows 7 without a problem. You should see an option for Windows 7 underneath the options for Linux...

Re: Kindle and Nook

Argh.. The Nook is based on Android; it should be easier to backwards engineer some drivers. At least enough to connect the device through to VMWare or VirtualBox. Does anyone know if one could install the software and have it operate under Wine?

Kindle and Nook [Solved]

Does anyone know whether any drivers are available for the Nook or Kindle on Mint? I have been doing a little searching but haven't come up with many promising results. Thanks very much.

Re: gedit php highlighting

It may not be built to highlight php. Its not that advanced for a text editor but Bluefish should work if you want to try.

Re: Can't log into XFCE session

There should be a "boot into recovery mode" for XFCE in the OS selection menu after boot. After you are in recovery mode there is a command to change the password in the terminal. Just change the password from the old one to the same thing and thats how I fixed the problem in Gnome.

Re: Startup aplications help.

There is a way but you have to write some scripts. If you look at this post from the Ubuntu forums you will get a better idea: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=2202857 Basically, the script should look something like this: #!/bin/bash sleep 25 && conky -d -c /home/fwc/.conkyrc exit This is a...

Re: Canon MP620 printing troubles

I'm not an expert but I have the Canon MP145. It is an Asian multi-function printer. I downloaded the drivers from the Canon website and installed them (which took a little work but wasn't difficult once I figured out the right ones) and then installed the windows drivers for the MP145 in a Virtual ...

Couldn't you write a script? As long as the files you are sharing are in the same folder I don't think it would be too hard.

You can get filezilla but the program is already there in the command line if you are familiar with it.

This is a link to view the command description and options:

This is a link for installing Dansguardian in Arch Linux. http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/DansGuardian If you type dansguardian -r in the terminal and nothing happens, that probably means it wasn't installed right in the first place. If you want to try and install it without the package manager,...

Hey, it looks like the drivers are installed and up to date but I found a post on the Arch Linux forums which may help explain things. http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=85449 The post has a complaint about the use of the microphone in Skype but their solution may work just as well.
