Re: Mint 8 wont boot after hibernation

I noticed the same problem with my hibernation in Mint 7. I haven't tried it in Mint 8 but I just use standby instead. I think it saves almost the same power.

Re: wbar & XFCE start-up sequence

I'm not sure this will work but its worth a try. In your home folder, there should be a folder called /.scripts. If its not there I think XFCE will check there on startup if you create the folder (it does in normal Mint). I created a very simple bash script there to prevent my conky from starting up...

Re: Two Problems

The second is a problem with Grub. I installed two OS's alongside my Vista installation, Mint and Crunchbang, and I immediately decided Mint was better. I deleted the partition Crunchbang was on, but it still shows up in the Grub menu. Any way to remove it? They have updated to grub2 in Mint 8 so I...

Re: peripheral Problems from tech dinosaur Help!

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "beyond my dinosaur capability" but I have an idea for your first problem. I recently bought a canon pixma mp145 and tried to install it in linux. I found the appropriate drivers on the canon site but it wouldn't print anything from my documents. so I booted up ...

Re: A bring tidings of fancy wallpapers...

Here it is. If someone wants to do the same with the embossed "Linux Mint" letters next to it, that would be cool.

Re: A bring tidings of fancy wallpapers...

This is cool but can someone please post a link to the embossed version in high-res widescreen. Thanks very much. Don't bother asking, I just made one, doesn't look too good. Better off with the logo. Again, this is NOT being offered as an wallpaper (I don't feel that would be right), but as a devi...

Re: Canon Pixma MP 145 [Solved]

If someone can help solve the Linux problem, please do, but I found a work around. I was able to print by installing the Windows drivers that came on the CD in a Windows XP VirtualBox image and it worked. Pretty awesome but not completely satisfactory.

Canon Pixma MP 145 [Partially Solved]

Hello, I recently purchased a Canon Pixma MP 145 (an Asian version of the Pixma MP 140) with a scanner, printer and copier. It is a very nice piece of hardware but I am having trouble getting the printer to work. The scanner and copier work fine, but when I got to print a document, I get an error ca...

Re: Tomboy Notes

I had the same error after MintUpdate did it's thing on a new install. Weird thing is, I said not to un-install it. Instead I went to MintInstall and selected Tomboy Notes. When I hit apply, it said "Do you want to install this upgrade . I'm positive it said upgrade or update, in any event. So I le...

Re: Tomboy Notes

Thanks for the help guys. I did what you said and started Tomboy in the terminal and I got two things. Firstly, a long strange XML string kept repeating in the terminal for a minute until it stopped with some repeating hex number. Then the error that popped up in the GUI in bold letters read The pan...
