Re: Fail to fetch - Hash sum mismatch

I had two problems with updates yesterday: The first (that I've actually forgotten the symptom ;) ) was fixed with "sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* -vf" followed by "sudo apt-get update" The "Hash sum" error was fixed by whoever gives up their free time to maintain the up...

Re: Fail to fetch - Hash sum mismatch

If THEY at MINT do not fix the problem on THEIR end, this is how I WILL ROLL :-) Mint isn't involved. Look at the URL. That's canonical, i.e. Ubuntu. In my experience, hash sum mismatches always sort themselves out eventually. It's just the server being in an inconsistent state temporarily. I could...

Re: Fail to fetch - Hash sum mismatch

Works again :) I do wonder how Mint manages (with it's update system) say compared to Windows with it's huge resource base, and i would imagine with Windows 10 we will be getting quite a few new Linux Mint converts? Not if these Mint issue keep happening!!!!!, Which is why I switched to begin with,...

Re: Fail to fetch - Hash sum mismatch

It's working now. So, when update manager "could not refresh the list of updates" or "cannot find all repository indexes", is it the case that those failed updates or lost repository indexes will at some point sort themselves out and work by themselves? or at what point does it ...

Re: Fail to fetch - Hash sum mismatch

Well in this case, the best is also not to panic and wait a few hours if possible. This allows you to see if your system is faulty or if the problem was solved on the servers. A second advise is also to try a different mirror and see if the problem is still there or not. Well at this moment, I am o...

Re: Failed to Fetch

Yeah been having a red cross in my update icon, probably for a good few hours today, but now it seems back. I opened the update manager (left click on the shield icon in the taskbar) and clicked 'refresh'. Gave me an error message at first, but now it seems good again. I just tried a REFRESH since ...

Re: Fail to fetch - Hash sum mismatch

Man, did I open a bucket of worms>>LOL. Well went for a flu shot with my Wife, and before I left I closed the Update Manager went to MENU,>>>Administration>>and re-opened it, and it looks normal, but I am afraid to do a REFRESH and will leave well enough alone :-) I hate when things like this go wro...

Fail to fetch - Hash sum mismatch

Right after taking an update (Chrome's latest Stable update), my Update Manager has a big RED, "X" in it and says the following (Screen Shot). Is there something that needs to be done to fix this??? TIA

Re: My Audio Out Jacks

OK, so maybe you just have to research audio setups and choose your options for pulseaudio or add jack application for audio routing options http://tutorials.renoise.com/wiki/Linux_FAQ http://www.ubuntugeek.com/fix-for-all-pulseaudio-related-issues.html http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/Puls...

Re: Fixed screen display resolution default setting 1024x800

P.S. From my last post. When I did the "xrandr" command, I saw this: "screen 0: minimum 320 X200, current 1020 X 768, maximum 32767 X 32767" So since 1600 X 900 is well within that MAXIMUM, I ought to be able to add it, but reading various sites with the terminal commands to do ...

Re: Fixed screen display resolution default setting 1024x800

This is how I fixed my screen resolution (default display) problem in Mint 14 Background: When I installed Mint 14 (Nadia) it could not detect my monitor and defaulted to 1024x800 (4:3). It would not detect my 1600x900 dell monitor with vga connector (the only wire provided). Solution: I followed t...

Re: Adding Adobe Flash to Chromium???

You need to note the actual locations of the PUAs shown in the reports, if for example they are in /google-chrome/Default/Extensions/ then they are extensions and not cache loaded malware. "/google-chrome/Default/Extensions/" which I believe that they are. So what exactly does that mean, ...

Re: Adding Adobe Flash to Chromium???

I run clamtk with PUA detection turned on and you are right that often/usually they are nothing to worry about.. I have two which I routinely ignore as they are due to browser extensions and I understand what they are and what they do.. It is worth mentioning though that the biggest risk to privacy...

Re: My Audio Out Jacks

OH COME ON, someone must know why??? Don't be turned off by my post because I am avoiding the TERMINAL like the plague>>LOL.

I avoided the Command Line in Windows also. No use for it. Way too many OTHER ways to get things done :-)
