What I found out was that it works if I change video from QXL to virtio.
This is only necessary with cinnamon. QXL works fine both with MATE and XFCE.

The installer will set up, if you select disk encryption, an encryption LUKS partition with LVM and encrypted swap. It will not encrypt the boot partition.
