Re: File Manager gets stuck in Panel Mate 18.0

I've got nowhere with this issue and coming back because I like Mate so much! Where the hell do I post a bug report??? Seems like I used launchpad, but don't see my post there now. I know I used github, but that don't even look to be a bug report site, well kinda does, but kinda doesn't. https://git...

Pjotr, Is it weird that I don't get this action?
Mate or Cinnamon? Either way its weird.

Do you not see that?
Cinnamon of course! I do not see that, I wonder why? I'll take another look if it helps anyone.

Re: 19.1 Cinnamon: how can I disable highlighting of desktop files when hovering?

Pjotr, Is it weird that I don't get this action? I just downloaded today and don't see this happening. I copied over a png, and a .doc and niether does what you are saying. You think they changed it already? I did create my bootable USB Manually as a hybrid, not that that would matter as I've seen s...

Re: wifi continuously dropping in hp laptop with reaktek wifi card

You could start by posting the output of the commands below. And please post the link you used to make wifi work. Did you install a driver via the driver manager? 1. Open Terminal, Ctrl+alt+t will bring up Terminal, if it doesn’t just Open Menu and type Terminal, you will see the Terminal, click on ...

Re: Preparing for Mint to drop the KDE distro

I've tried almost all of the KDE options. I have a few requirements. It has to be based on Deb. No Arch or RPM. It has to boot. (it's amazing how many won't) And it has to work well out of the box. (that eliminates most KDE distros) But I believe I've found it with Neptune. So far it hasn't given m...

Re: Preparing for Mint to drop the KDE distro

Kubuntu is the only way to go now, works well for some and some need to work the kinks out. Anyhow, IMO, Kubuntu has never been for the uninitiated, you should expect to learn some new stuff. Once you do then it will be easier every new release.

Re: Preparing for Mint to drop the KDE distro

@rossdv8, good work! Loved that video wallpaper and the whole setup. I tried Kubuntu, but it don't work well with my hardware so far, and don't know if I'll keep wasting time with it. Mint's KDE 17 Series was really the best there ever was IMO. I've really never used a better desktop yet, though it ...

Viewing Text while hovering over an app

Hey guys, been a while. I'm on possibly the best OS ever, Mint's KDE 17.1. I use this old pc mostly now to run Grsync and backup all my personal files. The issue is, when I hover on some of the important tool buttons it's really hard to see what function I am on. This has always been an issue but ne...

I expected as much. I will have to review those specs against mine and see if there is anything interesting.

Re: Screen Chattering in Browser Again

That's not what I said. And, this don't seem to happen with everyone, how I don't know, because it happens every time I try it since 18.0 on so many occasions I can't count. 1. Open File Manager. 2. Minimize File Manager to Panel. 3. Open Menu and close it. 4. Click on File Manager in Panel to Maxim...

Re: Screen Chattering in Browser Again

Thanks for the advice, but Mate has an issue that the File Manager gets stuck in the Panel all the time with me. In fact every time you Open the Menu while the File Manager is Minimized it will get stuck in the Panel, until you open another piece of software, then it seems to be unstuck. Not the big...

No but I will try it out if time allows. I like already the Panel on the bottom, so less work figuring out how to change that in Ubuntu Bungie.

Re: Screen Chattering in Browser Again

I was in a live session so it was Firefox with no extensions. I did try Ubuntu Budgie recently and no issues at all, but most all other distros have some bit of issues with this in all browsers. Unfortunately don't like Ubuntu Budgie, but may have to look at it a little closer and see if I can make ...

Screen Chattering in Browser Again

Screen Chattering in Browser Again. Is there a way to fix this easily? If not I'll just move on to something that allows smooth scrolling easily. I have not installed yet and am looking for a good distro to do so. I am thinking 18.3 would be better for this old laptop, and maybe a bit more stable. P...

Re: [solved] Laptop overheating with Linux Mint 19 "Tara" MATE

Heatsink Fan Cleaning 1. Get a Paper Clip that is the proper size to fit through the Intake Vents on the bottom of the laptop closest to the Exhaust/Heatsink. Straighten it out so that you can poke it through the vents and hold the fan from spinning. 2. Use on of those Air Dusters you get at your lo...
