Re: New installation in old desktop

It was suggested by some of the more knowledgeable people here NOT to use Cinnamon? You'll be lucky if you can use Xfce.

Re: New installation in old desktop

I'm a bit surprised at your comment though surely you know way more than I. This card is supported under Ubuntu 18.04 and therefore I would think under Mint but maybe not. Why wouldn't something like Xfce 19.xx work? If not, as you suggested, there are other good options, and I would guess even Lub...

Re: Remote Desktop on Mint 19

I was going to say, I've been using TeamViewer with no problems on Mint 18. The portable one and the Installed one. Very simple and familiar as I use it with Winblows also. I use TeamViewer a lot, both with Windows and with Linux Mint. With Windows it works fine but with Linux if flickers a lot and...

Re: Screen tearing on LM 19 xfce edition

I was wondering about that but did not pick up on the fact that this was a new install! Of course if the system is new without updates it won't work correctly. Now you have the Intel Driver.

Code: Select all

Display Server: x11 (X.Org 1.19.6 ) driver: intel

Re: Screen tearing on LM 19 xfce edition

I think apt install xserver-xorg-video-intel followed by a reboot will automatically use the intel driver if you want to give that a shot. However, switching from intel to modesetting is usually the way to stop tearing. Yeah, I saw that MrEen, just don't think it is current. And yes, I agree from w...

Re: Screen tearing on LM 19 xfce edition

I've been reading up on this, but this is one of the reasons I don't use linux all that much anymore. It's like pulling teeth finding answers to stuff like this. I think there should be a Driver there for you but for some reason there is not? There are drivers available from Intel but it's hard to t...

Re: Screen tearing on LM 19 xfce edition

I wonder if installing the Intel driver would be better?

Open the Driver Manager and see if there is a Driver there.

Thanks for your help
Haha, in the future just Copy Paste those outputs into a Code Box, which is at the top of the Reply bot and looks like this: </> Or just into the Body of your next post.

I don't know that I've ever seen "modesetting" as a Intel Driver like that?

Re: [Solved] Is Linuxing easy?

No, Linuxing is not easy. Wait, that's not what you wanted to hear is it LOL. The answer is actually No and Yes, in that order. Learning linux will be a totally new experience in some aspects, but in others it won't. Luckily many things are similar with interacting with the Net and using Word Proces...

MrGrimm, I did miss that post of yours were you posted you UnMounted the partitions due to an overlap in posts I believe. You didn't state how you did this though so I can only assume through gparted.

Re: Linux Mint MATE Crashes on 4GB RAM

I do hope you are able to fix this, but I've seen lot's of issues with Lenovo products over the years, especially with Linux. Even machines stuck not being able to boot and such. Official support for Windows is not good either, there is not even a new BIOS out for this machine. Always check the SHA2...

Blanca, you need to post the outcome of "lsusb" into your next post so that JeremyB can help you, he is a Networking Specialist! Preferably in a text box which looks like this in the toolbar above: </> Also, if you had an Ethernet cable plugged in you might get a driver in the "Driver Manager". This...

Re: Unlimited Partitions Being Limited To Only 7

It appears you are trying to manipulate ntfs partitions while they are Active! So there is no reason to blame gparted as that is exactly what it is telling you, seems like a perfect Error readout to me. You need to Turn Off "Fast Boot" in Windows and retry. What is the new partition for and what wil...
