Thanks for all the help, my boot options are:
USB FLOPPY
USB SUPERDISK
USB HARD DISK.

I just tried the FLOPPY but that did not work lol.

I want to perform the LiveUSB. I know how to get to the Boot Log and changed it once to boot from the Disc. Linux Mint 17 is fully compatible with Ubuntu 14.04, and often compatible with Debian if there is no Ubuntu package for a program. So in your case, pick the package for Ubuntu and that will work fine on Linux Mint 17. For installing Google Chrome you have to indeed get it from Google's website, but...

Mint along side XP

Can I install Linux Mint to my laptop with xp on it? I am running from the CD D drive right now. This should also make it faster right? Right now it is not bad but makes to much noise. I don't know if I can handle much technicle input like partitioning and such, any help would be great.
