Grouped Window List no longer hover peeks

so I upgraded to 19.3 from 19.1 or 19.2 (I can't remember). Now my grouped window list applet will not display the window previews on hover. It works fine if I click on a group and then click to close the previews. I have checked in the settings and Hover Peek is still turned on. System: Host: <host...

Re: Set icon in taskbar

ok, so Microsoft would have to modify Powershell to be executable directly from the UI environment for this to work?

Thanks for the direction to polkit. That actually looks rather interesting for a number of different things.

Re: mintinstall using sudo escalation rather than root password

Apparently this is true. Adding my domain user to the sudo group fixes the problem. This isn't great since I can't just add the domain group to the sudo group. I then have to manually manage the list of sudo users on every host rather than just once in LDAP.

Re: mintinstall using sudo escalation rather than root password

ahh, ok. So having sudo access is not the same as being in the sudo group. I take it that means that the sudo and admin groups are treated as special by mintinstall? For example, I'm using a domain user and I have a domain group, which I'm in, given sudo access the same access rights as the admin gr...

mintinstall using sudo escalation rather than root password

So right now I have a root user and a single standard user with sudo rights.
I can run apt use sudo without issue. However, when I use mintinstall to install software, it prompts for the root password. How can I do it based on sudo access?

Set icon in taskbar

So, I installed Powershell. All works fine, but it does not add a menu entry. I used the Menu Editor to add a new entry running "pwsh" with the "Run in a terminal" option checked. It runs the shell fine, but the icon on the taskbar is the standard terminal icon, not the custom Powershell icon I set ...

Re: Mint 18 Live CD - Input not supported

I have used the liveUSB for 18.2 and 18.3 from each DE and had no trouble booting in my laptop with the GTX 1060, and each install went fine. Just my 2 cents. ok, interesting. I just re-tried with a freshly downloaded copy, also using a USB key and I still get the same issue. If I replace my GTX 10...

Re: Mint 18 Live CD - Input not supported

You've got to be kidding me. Nearly a year later and the latest iso still has these issues. Mint are really dropping the ball with this. All of the solutions given are ridiculously complicated and shouldn't even be necessary.

ok, so that thread deals with a Wifi card which I don't have. I did try installing the 4.8 and 4.10 kernels as suggested but both refused to boot.

Can you post a link? All of the results I get for your search term in the hardware section talk about video or sound issues. Basically the hits come from people posting inxi results.

Networking on Dell Optiplex 7050

I've installed Linux Mint 18 on my new work pc but I have no network support. Windows 10 Device Manager lists it as an "Intel Ethernet Connection (5) I219-LM". I've looked up my service tag on Dell's site but there's no driver support for Ubuntu. Does anyone know if it's possible to get this working?

Re: Mint 18 Live CD - Input not supported

None of solutions have worked for me so I bit the bullet, reinstalled my old gpu, installed Mint, installed the nvidia drivers and then re-installed to new gpu. All seems good so far. It's a somewhat unfortunate state of affairs though. Given Mint happy to offer other proprietry software for the use...
