OK, who's played Wasteland 2 and/or Divinity: Original Sin?
I'd like to give them a whirl. AFAIK, both will run, and both *look* quite fun. However, I can afford to buy/play one of them. Has anyone got a recommendation as to which to choose?

A decent free office suite
Guys and gals, I can proudly announce that I've *finally* found an office app that produces presentation quality documents. It's not libre, and *certainly* not open office. Am I the only one who thinks they're only good for making draft quality reports? It is entirely free and 100% compatible with ....

Re: Can't get a script to run at startup
Hi Steve, If you're wanting to run a script at startup, you've got two options: 1) You can add it into your "Startup Applications" - make the command bash "path-to-the-script". This only (as far as I know) works with scripts that don't require sudo. 2) You can add your script to ...

Hi Pierre, what's your favourite feature of Zorin?
MartyMint, I've heard good things about Manjaro, but haven't heard anything about Antergos. What do you like about these OS's?

Re: open source backup?
Hi Jo, I reckon they would. So long as you can double click a program, you'll be fine. It took me <5min to work out how to use it, and comes with a detailed help file for if you want to mess around with advanced stuff (I've recently worked out how to do automated backups, which was fun). It's about ...

Re: rc.local experiment
Ah, thanks Mute Ant. Your post was very nearly perfect - it took no time at all to work out my problem now. Below is my final (fully working) code. #!/bin/sh -e # # start.backup # # Designed to start up a backup daemon. # Make sure that the script will "exit 0" on success or any other # va...

Re: rc.local experiment
Hi Mute Ant, thanks so much for your help! You've helped me fix my first problem, but it seems that in doing so I've created a second. I'd be grateful for any additional help you (or anyone else out there) could give me. OK, so I tried doing this: touch ~/scripts/start.backup chmod +x ~/scripts/star...

Other distros?
So, I was wondering if anyone has come across any other cool distros? (I like Mint, but a change is as good as a holiday - or so they say!) So far, I've been quite impressed with: Elementary OS - it looks like a nice Mac-inspired way of doing things. I even had a uni student hipster mistake it for M...

Re: open source backup?
If you're looking for a really good open-source backup program, I'd recommend FreeFileSync. You can download the ubuntu version from here A list of the key features can be found here But what I love best about it is that it can monitor two locations and copy the changes from one to the other without...

rc.local experiment
Hi fellow Mint-users! I'm posting a strange issue I've been getting with running jobs in my rc.local. I'm trying to run an automated backup program at system start - an easy task, I thought. I've tried adding the console command to my "Startup Applications", but it doesn't seem to run on b...

Hi!
Hey everyone, Just decied to give LM 17 cinnamon a spin. I'm trying to move away from other Trapware on the market and into the FOSS revolution. Currently tri-booting Win 7, LM, and another OS called Elementary. But so far, I like LM - stuff just seems to work. For the most part. Anyway, I'm sure I'...
