I always install all available updates level 1 to 5 and the latest kernel offered by the update manager (3.19.30 as of today). I have never experienced any problems so far. And even in the worst-case scenario it would cost me no more than an hour to reinstall LM. One important point: I use seperate ...

No, only once per minor update of Ubuntu LTS 14.04.2 -> 14.04.3 -> 14.04.4 and so on...

As far as I know even if you choose to change these files they will be replaced by the original ones next time you reboot your computer.

The Samsung driver http://bchemnet.com/suldr/driver/Unifie ... .35.tar.gz package carries a script uninstall.sh to get rid of previous Samsung drivers. Don't know how to deinstall the HP drivers...

Samsung + Linux = SULDR :D

Or in other words go to http://bchemnet.com/suldr/ you can either use the PPA and install drivers using apt-get install ... or go directly to the Samsung driver tab and get the latest driver there. Don't forget to uninstall previous drivers first.

Actually I solved the problem by - deinstalling FF - commenting out the linuxmint related lines in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/official-package-repositories.list - apt-get update - apt-get install firefox - reverse the changes in official-package-repositories.list but really feeling there must be an eas...

btw: the easiest way to install and set up LAMP is to use the command tasksel and select LAMP in the task selection...
sudo apt-get install tasksel
