Re: No more display after external monitor is disconnected

Actually on windoze it returned to the laptop display after the external one is disconnected. Even if I said there was only one monitor. LM is confused... No there is just more freedom on Linux. You say to System: this drive is unmonted or this monitor is off. And your system don’t try to be smarte...

Re: Intel graphics i915 DVI port "unknown connection"

They are none I took them from your file.
Run it if you can and we will see what happens.

This is simple conf file lets call it xrandr.sh.
It just add your modes to then exe them.

I hope system will pick mode monitor suggests as default.
But it might be all wrong.

Re: Intel graphics i915 DVI port "unknown connection"

No it might have nothing to do with unknown connection.
It is quite common on Linux to set modes manually.

Re: Intel graphics i915 DVI port "unknown connection"

I do have DVI monitors available, but the box never picked up the right resolution when plugged in. I guess this is due to the "unknown connection" status. so unless someone has a better idea, I'm afraid I have to forcefully set the resolution. Yes just add the right modes for DVI then, that should...

Re: Intel graphics i915 DVI port "unknown connection"

Yeah looks OK, on the first look, I don’t have your hardware to test it, but it might work well. Maybe you need to do some bug fixing, as I would simply add those modes and let system decide what is connected and pick proper mode. I thought you have only VGA connection available ? I don’t know reall...

Re: Firefox as default browser

Well your system is really Debian. And sure Debian is main line of Linux, but is the bottom of the chain. Dispute over Iceweasel is a good example what Debian really is. Loads of libs and system components don’t exist there. I have tons of things, files and system components on my Mint you don’t hav...

sudo apt-get purge firefox

log in/out

sudo apt-get install firefox
sudo update-alternatives --config x-www-browser
