Compiz - how to get rid?

Hi,

I am finding Compiz a waste of space and wish to get rid of it. Is it 'safe' to purge this 'eye candy' software package/s without affecting anything else?

I am asking because some packages one wishes to delete appear to be tied in with ones that are required.

Many thanks.

Well, tried quite a few but now settled with Mint - like the way it is supported and like Kubuntu it has a great support community. As for Libre Office - I use...

Panel 'menu' 'SOLVED'.

Hi,

Just in the process of switching to Mint from Kubuntu so playing around. :)

The answer to this probably applies to any linux system but can anyone tell me which file holds the 'menu' information? I just wish to transfer this info. easily to another Mint that I have running.

Thanks.

Have you installed a DE (KDE, Mate, Cinnamon) other than the one you started with?
Hi - no a totally clean install on a freshly partioned disc using a Linux Mint 17 MATE DVD (64 bit).

Blank Screen (and more)!

Hi, Sounds worse than it is however I am trying out Mint 17 having been on Kubuntu for some years now.
