Re: DVD's Any use?

Yes probably true although may be handy for a 'newbie'. I usually take to my local (one of many) charity shop and they do go. I'll give it another week!

DVD's Any use? TOO LATE GONE!

Hi,

I have a Linux Mint LMDE2 Debian DVD
&
Linux Mint 17.1 Cinnamon DVD (64-bit).

Both from the Linux Shop. Any body want them?

If so send me a private message with address and I will post - no charge!

Bye.

Too hot for 'zombies' then?

No ideas - but why Mate 13 you are a bit behind and it may save the problem? 17.2 out very soon.

EDIT Ho ho - tell a lie - the update manager has just updated and 17.2 is here! If you want it!!

Re: Lost Desktop!

Bumpity Bump!

Any more offerings on this - otherwise it will be a new install of 17.2 (Mate) when it comes out on CD?

Thanks.

Re: Lost Desktop!

Hello again. Regret that screenshots of the output do not work. I have tried previously but gave it another go - nil result. I can access the hd from this, my secondary hd (LM cinn. 17.1) and have checked for images just in case they saved without telling me but no they ain't. ?? Thanks for your con...

Re: Lost Desktop!

Done that however unable to copy to file no actions work! I did pipe the output and looked through it - I could see nothing amiss but then if I knew enough to analyse the output I could probably fix the problem too! :?

Next? :(

Re: Lost Desktop!

Hi Pjotr, Tried the nvidia, loaded quite a few files and upgraded a few too. However on 'startx' errors relating to 'card1' and to nvidia 304 not found. Note the caution re default language. Would you know what I require to re-install same? Keyboard shortcuts get me to terminal and even work spaces ...

Lost Desktop! - (Not solved but disposed of!)

I am not getting my usual desktop on boot but instead get a blank screen with just the cursor. Screenshot works via keyboard shortcut but I do not know any others! I have re-installed Mint (not touching the /Home partition of course) and now get the cursor (larger than normal as it seems the screen ...

Re: Eye of Mate & Eye of Gnome

Ah ok,

I note that this plug-in is somewhat old but I will try it out.

Not 'compiled' anything before so a little learning curve experience for me!

Thanks.

Re: Eye of Mate & Eye of Gnome

Hah - you do not know about emailing? I am shocked you made the post at all! And well yes I have looked at a lot of different viewers but I like eog and gThumb and Shotwell is good too. Overall I like to stay in the 'Mate' camp or at least Gnome. As I said I have digikam at the moment but it ...

Re: Eye of Mate & Eye of Gnome

Hi, Thanks for the info. I did not realise they had different code bases. I saw the item re back-porting but see no hint regarding plug-ins so as you say doubtful. My main concern is with exporting to email which you can do with eog but not eom (as far as I can tell). My overall aim is to get rid of...

Eye of Mate & Eye of Gnome

Hi,

Just a question. I know eom is the default for Mate and is a fork of eog however eog has a lot of plug-ins. Why doesn't eom?

OR have I missed them?

Sorry that's 2 questions!

Re: Problems with Desktop-windows please help!

I had a similar problem and it was related to 'caja' not being properly installed. As I understand it if you are using 'Mate' then it is 'caja' that is behind it and likewise it is your default file manager.

Apologies to the experts if I am on the wrong planet. :?

Re: Screensaver in MATE

Caught this by accident but followed the link and now have screensavers coming out of my ears. Found that 'sed' did not work but some helpful soul had put up a 'perl' option which worked fine for me (don't ask me why - no idea!!). Also there are a few 'savers in 'software manager'. Great stuff - lit...

Good news for any SatMap users.

They are developing a cross platform interface so us Linux users are in with a chance. :D

No idea when it will appear though. :(

Re: Wine (on Mate )

Yes it looked to me that Virtual Box needs a windoze install and obviously(?) I do not want to buy Windoze just because of one or two small issues. Probably easier to borrow some time on a Windoze PC owned by friends. However I will follow-up on kc1di 's information when I have a slot available with...

Re: Wine (on Mate )

Brilliant kc1di!

You have given me just what I have been looking for.

I shall play with the links etc. and post the outcome in due course including looking at Virtual Box - not thought of that!!

Thanks again. :D
