Re: what tools and language to start with

.... XML is something else, even though it is cross platform and there are some editors and such, most people, I suspect don't ever really touch that file type (as far as knowing much about it or what to do with it..) Great links, also the Walmart one, doing client side scripting but crunching the ...

Re: what tools and language to start with

Hm... How much experience do you have with programming? For a database and file manipulation program, sounds like you should be using C++. C++ lets you manipulate data on a very low level. It should have no problem parsing XML files and storing them in a database (if thats what you want to do). C++...

Re: What a mess I made with wine.

Installing multiple times because of breaking the system is something that most newcomers to Linux have done. Until you realise that Mute Ant's suggestion to create a new user is a good way of side-stepping re-installing. Eventually you won't even have to do that when you discover how not to break ...

[Solved]What a mess I made with wine.

Ok this is the 11th time I am installing mint. I went through about 30-50 some odd PC disk games and software trying to run them in wine. Anyway towards the end I started trying to uninstall the games but they left traces of Icons and links everywhere on the desk top and menu also panel. I seen I ha...

Which brought me to thinking how people registrar their game via purchase codes and steam keeps them in the cloud for you. LOL, HAHA,...

Re: Linux mint and flash

I think we oversee the following thing here, you can't update Adobe Flash any longer since Adobe dropped their support for Linux a while ago (2013). It was announced worldwide amongst almost every Linux forum and website. Adobe Flash Player 11.2 will be the last version to target Linux as a support...

Do you see any issue with doing this in mint, it seems like Ubuntu was used but titles Mint. So far I am thrilled with...
