Re: Monthly News - March 2015

I've run the Noobslab "Ultra-flat" icons in Cinnamon and XFCE - it's a nicely developed icon pack, and looks great with a dark theme. I tried but didn't like it with a silver theme on another. My guess is it would work quite well with a darkish default "look". http://www.noobslab.com/2015/01/make-l...

Re: Layout problem with DOTA 2

Hi, thx. I will try this ^^. Do you think this will also change the chat layout ? Because it is the right one in chat xD pretty strange ha! Beside I already installed ubuntu (alongside mint), nothing change (or worse) and i completely dislike it. Unity, philosophy and update manager, plus app manage...

Layout problem with DOTA 2

hi ! I'm French and I’ve an azerty (fr) type. Here is the problem : I can't play the game, on linux mint 17.1 64 bit cinnamon (playonlinux and from steam -linux version-). Only because this is a wrong layout, it is qwerty when I’m on dota(really annoying). Is there anybody having the same trouble? I...

Hi, i'm french and i use english sometime. The layout of my time is not a problem because i take the same for english and french (azerty fr). These are close enough to not change, plus i'm not comfortable with qwerty. But with much more different language you need different layout but you can also r...

Re: Why still no automatic updates..?

It is perfect the way it is now, if you are tethering for example. While windows with auto-update take you all your band. Plus you can choose weither to update or not, and the time for it. I'm not for force-update. It is gentle, to offer you the possibility to update easily when it is the more conve...

Re: Psychological mental Wall, Icon Association one stop pos

Sorry man, maybe i was in a bad day but i was so chocked by this sentence. It was the cliché of the 80's computer. I only use the gui as i'm not familiar to the "shell(?)". I use apt sometimes. The icons set are common now, this is pretty much the same as in windows... But anyway, a logo is associat...

Re: Firefox 34 uses *ALOT* of RAM

There is a way to fix the search bar in FF34 by going into the registry-type settings. I will edit this post when and if I find that setting. I have it enabled on my installation and it's Firefox 34 with the classic search bar setup. Very nice. I do what I can do have it the way I want. I just thin...

Re: Firefox 34 uses *ALOT* of RAM

I think all the main browser takes a lot of ram. I don't know why but Opera too takes like 400 Mo with 1 or 2 tab, i thought it was a bug but i looked others and it is about the same in the "main" browsers. It is not really a problem i have 8Go of ram but i wonder if you have tone of tabs open : It ...

You can also make a bootable usb, and 4Go is fine for (almost?) every system i think.

Re: So frustrating.

If you do not care about your UEFI windows8 then you can do what I normally do: I turn off everything in the bios pertaining to UEFI and secure boot and turn it back into a regular laptop. Then just install Mint. I dont think UEFI does anything but protect M$ share of the market. coffee It also dep...

Re: How can you have a 2 core i7?

The power of cpu don't rely only on the number of core. If you have 4 weak core, 1 core can be better than the 4 core cpu. I7 is high end I5 is mid-to high I3 is low-mid and celeron and pentium are low end cpu If i remember And xeon is for server Personally i have 2 i5 (one on a laptop 2 core 2 thre...

Re: What are you most dissatisfied with in Linux Mint?

It's a minor bug, i dislike the mint mouse pointer set so i take oxygen yellow. But it changes back to normal when i don't use pre-installed apps. And my intel HD 3000, i still can't get it working :(. Plus in 17.1 we can't change the colour of linux mint menu according to the new mint colour theme....

I never used chrome and i have only one google account. So, I hope this could help or maybe someone will come with better idea :p. But i'm a big fan of opera, even if i use mozilla now. Because their stable version is too old and the beta & dev don't accept flash now but html5 is fine i think. Plus ...

Yeah i waited to install it via update manager, i'm not fan of reinstalling every 6 months. So i was patient for cinnamon.

Re: Install to exsisting partition

Hi, if i understand well. You want to replace the LM 17. With ubuntu 14.04.1? If you have a separate /boot, /, /home, in LM cd you can choose the "advanced" 3rd option and you indicate boot and root (/boot, / ,swap -too-) partition then install again. And you have to wipe, /boot, /. So, the rest wil...
