Re: Sync files n folders on Microsoft Onedrive wid Linux Min

A brief google and I found this on OMG Ubuntu, I have never used onedrive so can't say whether it works or not I'm afraid http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2014/06/one-drive-ubuntu-integration OK, another noob here but an opportunity to chime in on a positive experience with this. Summary, works great! I ...

Re: How to make multiboot USB with Easy2Boot in Linux

Here's a copy-paste of the offending readme file. I got the bugs from the included URL : " 1. Download and install RMPrepUSB (http://www.rmprepusb.com)" The trojans installed when installing "RMPrepUSB" as instructed. paste:" To make a new Easy2Boot USB Flash drive (Windows OS): 1. Download and inst...

Re: How to make multiboot USB with Easy2Boot in Linux

Trying to document but I'm not sure how to post a screen shot from hijackthis. I wish I had documented that before I did my own cleaning efforts. However, SteveSI I would like to show that even though I've wasted some of this very nice day performing cleaning attempts I still have evidence of bits o...

Great SteveSI! Good to see you reply. Then why the hell did your software bundle install a bunch of trojans on my machine?? Or do you call me a liar?

Re: How to make multiboot USB with Easy2Boot in Linux

WARNING about the "easytoboot" stuff. I did download and tried to use it. An entry in the top readme files says for further instructions read the file: "_ISO/docs/Make_E2B_USB_Drive/Make_E2B_USB_Drive.txt". That file has the line : "1. Download and install RMPrepUSB (http://www.rmprepusb.com)"' and...

Re: Warning For Newbies Like Me

Well to the OP's frustration, its not hard to do similar and get flustered. He may have lost some precious files like old photos and music...who knows. New to Linux admin myself, I accidentally screwed my dual debian+win7 install by choosing to "install mint alongside" and somehow got it to where I ...

Re: The Code: Story of Linux

I liked the first one "code" a lot thanks! Just what I'm looking for. The second was a bit smug for me. Here's one that followed on the tube but you have to watch the whole thing called "Linux Sucks":

Re: Beginner experiences with Linux :-)

More for the topic title than the particulars of the OP post above. I'm having a GREAT time now finally diving into Linux. I'm distro hopping a little (with a couple super time wasting self inflicted disasters and a change in my budget machine build) but am spending most of my time with LM17-cinimon...

Re: Shellshock: Bash bug

So I've seen some commentary that the initial patch(S) did not completely void the vulnerability particularly the ability to overwrite files and that they are still testing various fixes for effectiveness and to see what OTHER vulnerabilities or problems their fix approaches may expose (via oss-sec ...

Re: "Ignored" terms in forum search

I have the same concern. Very frustrating since anything relevant will have oft used terms and short acronyms. Pretty stupid to have to go outside to google etc. But it looks like its a problem with the forum program which wasnt made here..

How do I find my programs to "open with"?

hello, Very noob to gui linux. In windows when asked what program to open a file with one can brows to a list of programs either ones listed as associated with that file type or I can go to the 'program files' directory and look for the proper .exe file. I'm not finding it so obvious in LM. I know i...

Re: problems using home network raid box in LM17 cinnamon

Thanks Wharfrat and Altair4. That gives me something to start with and pointers on areas I need to learn about such as gvfs. I hadn't thought about permissions. I did wonder if some programs weren't tooled to read NTFS mounts which that drive indeed is. I'll report back:>)
cheers

Re: Which do you prefer: Cinnamon or XFCE?

Wish I'd seen this topic earlier. Might have saved me some hardware upgrading trying to get cinnamon to work as well as xp did on an ancient p4 machine with unsupported radeon-AGP etc . Question: So now I've rebuilt to a modern (still budget) amd quad core APU system that I got LM17-cinnamon to work...

problems using home network raid box in LM17 cinnamon

I'm a newb on running my own linux system so I'll start in this section. I've had occasional difficulties accessing my home network backup raid storage box from LM17 cinnamon. Its a two disk self powered raid-box hooked to the network router via ethernet that we've been using to store files from sev...
