Re: Remmina won't launch

Don't think so as I didn't upgrade from 19.2. I did a clean install to 19.3 because 19,2 was a disaster for all of my amd machines. Couldn't even run as a live usb
Are you asking me to run the above code in term?

Re: Programs in program manager that don't work? Why?

Guess the better more specific reply would be: can you get remmina to work on lm19.3 cinnamon via the regular software manager?

Re: Programs in program manager that don't work? Why?

I do have a few clues. well put.I don't agree that the situation is due to simply the LTS nature of Ubuntu but rather that Cinnamon is degrading and that the LM version is not quite on top of things. To your point I am spending more time on ARch Manjaro thus I have higher expectations. But may main...

Re: Programs in program manager that don't work? Why?

This is for LM19.x series Cinnamon with increasing difficulty from 19.1 to 19.3 skipping 19.2. Why are there programs that you can install from the the program manager that simply wont work? Is there no vetting at all? Vent your spleen here . With 400+ posts to your name, one would have thought you...

Programs in program manager that don't work? Why?

This is for LM19.x series Cinnamon with increasing difficulty from 19.1 to 19.3 skipping 19.2. Why are there programs that you can install from the the program manager that simply wont work? Is there no vetting at all? I have encountered this a lot. I'd say its increasing. I don't have metrics but s...

Re: Linux Mint Needs To Urgently Enable Support For Snaps

SNAPs? FLATPAKs? Please, NO!!!! Well, I for one am very glad that flatpak is supported. I have been encountering more and more situations where the only way I can get something to work in linux mint is to use the flapak version of a program. I don't understand religion very much. I think instead an...

Re: Remmina won't launch

I'm not going to post solved because its not really solved until a reasonable fix why a program installable from the official repository from the program manager dosn't work in cinnamon. Crickets.

Re: Remmina won't launch

OK, like so many things cinnamon where I get a hint of incompatibility, I find the solution is flatpak. At least that loads and functions. The remote screen looks like crap on my HDMI hidpi screen, have to figure that out out. So why is it common enough now for programs to not work with current cinn...

Remmina won't launch

Hello, I like many may need to work from home shortly, so trying to get the client Remmina working. I have installed it both with the software manager and directly from the community web page. Seems to install fine without errors but won't launch from the gui icon or from the command line. This is o...

Re: A possible starter laptop for linux?

I have a great used computer store near by and I regularly pick up laptops in the US$250-$400 range with reasonable hardware like intel quad core that used to run ms vista, windows7,8 to put linux (mint, manjaro, mxlinux) on depending with mostly great success. I've had trouble with really old ones ...

Re: 17 worked better

OH man, really depends on hardware too. I resurrected a friends diseased wife's laptop with with LM13 or such with a strange pentium cpu and kernel I don't quite remember. took a bit of fretting on this forum to find how but got it working. He ran that thing for years!!! then updated last year, kawb...

Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

I think it is a little confusing as it shows up and is 'checked' to install by default in the regular update manager window not just the kernel manager. It would be nice to have more control as to what shows up there. Not entirely sure what you mean here. If you install a kernel, then Update Manage...

Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

Hello, I have update manager set to show LTS kernels in preferences>advanced. However, it also shows 'low latency' kernels. I installed by mistake. Not a problem because I can uninstall of course but why would it show up at all? I don't have show "other kernels" box checked. Recently installed: 01/2...

Re: amd GPU auto overclocking, high fan, how to underclock?

Hello, My old AMD GPU card oddly heats up to max temps (as per psensor and radiontop apps) and fan gets super noisy when streaming some videos. THAT shouldn't happen as the GPU should hardly be doing anything. Using AMDGPU kernel driver which wants to auto overclock. Seems kernel independent on 4.1...

Re: Kernel version 5.3 - report

Not too useful without more information. Might as well show your hardware profile. What is relevant here is kernel vs hardware. This kernel does work fine for the vast majority of modern hardware.
