Re: Driver Manager out of date

Is it normal for the Driver Manager "Non-Free" drivers to be VERY out of date? Yes. And that is directly related to using an LTS distro that was originally released several years ago. Using an LTS distro, only critical fixes get backported, not new-shiny-thing enhancements and minor bug fixes. You ...

Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

Hello gm10. I saw the self update displaying a fix for the auto launch of the kernel manager and hit the update button. However, it is still happening, I'm very confident that it is fixed, but you have to realize that you only received the fix after applying the update, so what you were seeing was ...

Hello gm10. I saw the self update displaying a fix for the auto launch of the kernel manager and hit the update button. However, it is still happening, the next version of the stable kernel installed and then the autoupdate happened. In case it has any bearing i'll mention I had just hard booted the...

Re: installing a program upgrade

Just a note that Mint's Firefox is now at 72.0.1 so is patched against the vulnerability mentioned by rm1. yup. To the OP, I've posted similar when I thought I needed to go out of tree to get the latest..However, It usually takes just a few days to get the latest from LM on this sort of program. Th...

Re: What's with this "Nemo" anyway?

heh. Not a lot of useful info for any one to help you. Nemo is the Cinnamon default file browser tool yes. It doesn't do anything else. You can use anything else that you like. Its not like MS windows where everything is prescribed. Just chill and play with the cinnamon interface a bit.

Re: Can't install Mint over Manjaro installation, recgnizes EXT 4 as EXT 2

People aren't helping you because you aren't giving any helpful information. Plus this isn't a help forum really. But I have installed LM19.1 on a dual boot with Manjaro with EXT4. Now it is LM19.3 via upgrade. Originally it was the other way around with making a Manjaro 3rd OS with LMmint and MX Li...

Re: How to use Kodi in Linux Mint 19.2

I installed from software manager and ppa. Both the same. After briefly looking it over, I wonder why I would want it. VLC seems so much more robust. VLC definitely is easier to use and has volume normalization and dynamic range compression (which is important to me) but I haven't found any skins t...

Re: How to use Kodi in Linux Mint 19.2

Forgive me, but I'm from Missouri (seriously). Why would installing from the terminal be better than from the repository? All other sources I have read have said that it is better to install from the repository when possible. I'm not trying to be difficult but this has me baffled. I have tried to f...

Re: Hi; Just loaded Linux Mint and updated tto 19.3

Guess I don't have administrative privileges- When I enter: sudo passwd root It won't accept a UNIX password.. There was never one generated as far as I know. What am I doing wrong? Thanks Best not to try to go that route. More on that later. If you are trying to change your user password you can s...
