19.3 is not crashing my AMD CPU+graphics system the way 19.2 did. Good luck.

Re: Linux Mint 19.3 'Tricia' What are your First Impressions?

Well nice so far with LM19.3 cinnamon upgraded from 19.1. I think that was the easiest upgrade Ive done with LM so far, at least with this one computer i've done. This amd based device could not run 19.2 even from a live usb due to crashes, but great with 19.3. I had updated 19.1 to most recent plus...

[notice] upgrade from 19.1 to 19.3 very minor issue with grub boot menu

Hello, Just FYI, upgrading from 19.1 to 19.3 had just one noticeable issue, I haven't really run it through the paces yet. On a dual boot Manjaro linux Mint cinnamon computer I found my custom edits to grub2 were wiped out. I don't care about most of that but one irritation was that my setting for t...

There is no official flatpak version of firefox, certainly not on flathub.org. There is an unofficial fedora version on firefox-flatpak.mojefedora.cz. .
Right, but there is flatpak in Synaptic that he could reinstall.
Thats not a flatpak

Re: firefox throws errors in terminal

For giggles I'm curious what you get with flatpak list --app to list apps. without the --app, you'll still see the base support for flatpak that comes with LM. flatpak remotes to list remote sources for flatpak apps. It should be nothing right? But if you happen to get something like "org.mozilla.Fi...

Re: firefox throws errors in terminal

First, you might try updating Firefox which is now at version 71.0. See if you have an update available in Update Manager. That alone might solve your problem. As for flatpak, I'm not too familiar with it either. Maybe you can reinstall it in Synaptic Package Manager? There is no official flatpak v...

Re: replace LM firefox with stock standard firefox

Dude, you didn't even show us the FF version info that you can get in help/about firefox or even firefox --version Unless you intentionally installed the flatpak on top of the official LM19 repo version, you don't have a flatpack version If you must, you can use your software manager to uninstall fi...

Only reason I've noticed to care about LM Firefox vs. direct Firefox (and I don't) is that it usually takes a day or two for updates to be repackaged.
Thats my only annoyance with that. Usually it only takes a few days to get the latest

Re: Partition HD so /Home is on its own drive

I was reading an older book on Mint. How do I keep what is in /home from being overwritten by the new installation? Back it up first, at least all your docs. But the thing is, /home is where Linux puts all the user specific parts of the OS and applications. Seems like a fools errand to have differe...

Re: RING Security Doorbell

I think y'all are missing something. The so called hacking of Ring was simple lack of understanding on the user part not some zero day or vulnerability thing. If any of these folks had set their systems up with a strong random passphrase and username that wasn't used at all eslewhere they'd have no ...

Re: Mint 19.1 no sound through hdmi on tv

A common problem that trips our guests up is to make sure: 1. HDMI and sound out via HDMI are activated in your BIOS 2. On your HDMI Monitor/TV be sure to choose the sound an video inputs as HDMI or sound through HDMI etc. Varies by tv. Then go to both display and sound settings in LM preferences af...

Re: When will this forum site get a new modern design?

One thing i did notice in general when 'traditional' forums change to the trendy 'flat' design is you often see either a fall off in useful users and/or a general explosion of not that helpful threads (this is more to do with the way modern GUI add 'popularity' aspects like votes up/down etc). It d...

Re: Multiple Mint repositories 'no longer signed'

So at this time, have any dots been connected on why some get this issue and others do not? I did have an issue with a broken official ubuntu repo key but was easily fixed using a tool to repair missing key's in GM10's version of update manager. I assume it is a script similar to : sudo apt update 2...
