Question: is possible to use the new System Snapshot from out side LM 19

Hi, I really like this a lot, and I wonder if it can be used outside of LM 19, like before it boots, from say a command line. Also can it be uses from a USB pen live LM 19 ... I didn't see that when I looked. It seems the new System Snapshot can only be used within the original LM 19 install. Is thi...

SOLVED : Why did this happen? "Linux Mint 19 Tara username-System-Product-Name-ttyl username-System-Product-Name

Hi,

The following happened to me and I had to reinstall LM 19 as I didn't know how to fix it.

What is this? I don't know the answers and was locked out.

"Linux Mint 19 Tara username-System-Product-Name-ttyl

password:"

Thanks.

Re: LM 19 - "NVIDIA X Server settings" ... how do I get this to work again?

The LM 19 Drive Manager says "1 proprietary driver in use".

"This device is using the recommended driver.
nvidia-driver-390 (recommended)
Version 390.48-0ubuntu3
NVIDIA driver metapackage"

SOLVED - LM 19 - "NVIDIA X Server settings" ... how do I get this to work again?

Hi.

With 18.3 this worked fine.

I did a fresh install of LM 19 today and installed the "NVIDIA X Server settings".

However, the "NVIDIA X Server settings" are blank.

How can I get this to work again?

Thanks. :)

Re: "solved" Bluetooth - accessing BIOS, installing LM with Bluetooth keyboard ?

"solved"

I returned my Logitech K480 and exchanged it for a Logitech K780.

The K780 has WiFi functionality, as well as Bluetooth. I am able to access BIOS. :)

Thanks to everyone who checked in to see if you could help, and for the replies above.

Update:

I checked my Motherboard BIOS manual, and "The BIOS setup program does not support Bluetooth devices."

Hi, QUESTION: If it is possible to have my Bluetooth keyboard access BIOS, choosing an operating system at boot, and installing LM19 when it is released ... how would I achieve this? Re: SOLVED - thank you ! Re: How to define permanent monitor Hz, eg 144 Hz. Thanks.

This is a new monitor I have and I have no previous experience of 144hz ... it doesn't seem different to 60hz, so it is likely only apparent per software application, eg games and testing. I found this online to test, but it doesn't seem to work for me: https://www.testufo.com/ I was wondering if th...

Re: How to define permanent monitor Hz, eg 144 Hz. Thanks.

Thanks but it didn't work for me.

I entered:

xrandr --output DVI-I-1 --mode 2560x1440 --rate 144.00

My monitor is ViewSonic XG2703-GS, with my preferred setting, 2K 2560x1440 at 144 Hz, DP Display Port.

I am using Linux Mint 18.3.

Re: How to define permanent monitor Hz, eg 144 Hz. Thanks.

PS

My "NVIDIA X Server Settings" does not appear to have the checkbox "Make this the primary display for the X-screen" ... which may only show with dual monitors.

Re: How to define permanent monitor Hz, eg 144 Hz. Thanks.

Thanks catweazel, The "NVIDIA X Server Settings" generated the xorg.conf file and correctly placed it into the correct folder /etc/X11 even though I chose the desktop for ease of navigation, to move manually. I rebooted and tested the Hz with xrandr, and the 144 Hz was not maintained. Xran...

SOLVED - thank you ! Re: How to define permanent monitor Hz, eg 144 Hz. Thanks.

Hi, My monitor supports 144 Hz. The default is 60 Hz. I've googled heaps to find a way to change the Hz permanently, but no success. Thanks. NB My GPU is Nvidia. "NVIDIA X Server Settings", is installed. I can't save settings as no xorg.conf exists ... and this may not be the best solution...
