Re: Desktop Manager designed for touchscreens

Linux Mint 18 KDE would be best for touch screens I would assume, when used with "application dashboard" alternative start menu. In KDE right click start menu and click "alternatives" then choose "application dashboard". It is a very gnome 3 like menu. Huge icons, I would say that be best in the min...

Re: Viruses on Linux Mint

Windows is very susceptible to viruses, like a person with a low immune system. I believe it's not too much of concern for Linux users, however I believe their are some out there and chances to get infected. I would say through wine, maybe using files brought over from windows might infect your syst...

Re: Why I still prefer Windows over Linux

Something useful removed because it is a GUI. Linux developers hate GUI. If it is sensible or easy then kill it. False. So many GUI tools and software it's not funny. Want to install software? Sudo apt install (name) OR Left click start menu, got "software centre" find software left click "install"...

Re: Google is playing God

Years ago I used to use Myspace before facebook was even on the face of the planet. Sorry...! anyways... Turns out Myspace had the power and right to delete everyone's photos, that sucked as I had some I wanted to keep. Yes, I believe Google can delete your photos, they have a little bit of po...

Re: Why I still prefer Windows over Linux

What the funny thing is, when windows crashes or causes "showstopping bugs" we carry on and just accept it because we have no choice.

When "Linux" has issues we go back to what "worked".

Sorry to hear problems your having Petermint!

Re: Linux Mint 18.1 “Serena” Cinnamon – BETA Release

I'm interested in knowing this as well.
Clem would know, do any of the moderators or Linux Mint forum admins know if this is true?
Maybe it is just another Linux article that lies or assumes.

Re: Why I still prefer Windows over Linux

I think stability will improve considerably in the next 2-3 years. There are just too many big projects going on at the moment that inevitably introduce bugs or stretch limited manpower resources but these will mature and I think in many instances they will be a long-lived solution as opposed to a ...

Re: Why I still prefer Windows over Linux

Sorry OP, I don't actually see the direction or point of this thread. Yes, Linux needs more exposure to grow, but you have to be realistic. Oh on a side note, I don't think Windows will stand the test of time, open source software is moving fast and innovating. Closed source proprietary software is ...

Re: Why I still prefer Windows over Linux

Fair enough - couldn't agree more @Jimallyn He can use what OS he decides to use, I just think the OP didn't try find a GUI version of the tool he needed. On Cinnamon I don't think the Linux Mint team could of made it any easier, they even developed their own tool! :D Click the "Start Menu" > "Acces...

You must own a "dumb" phone.
Mind you, I think "smart" phones don't live up to their name!
