Re: E-mail client alternative to Thunderbird?

I use Evolution since 6 years without any problem. I like it, it's enough for me. If you want to encrypt your emails, Thunderbird addons may be easier to use. Couldn't agree more, recently switched to Evolution for my email client. Best decision I made, the vertical view makes it look like outlook ...

Re: Why I still prefer Windows over Linux

Wow these threads have even crept into the Linux Mint forums. Reddit and YouTube isn't enough of an outlet to say "why I prefer x over y" discussions? You have points and then you have opinion, fair enough. To also set the record straight, I believe you can use Linux without touching a terminal, onl...

Re: Switched to XFCE =D

I've usually focused on MATE and Cinnamon and only grudgingly used Xfce, but yesterday I tried Fedora 25 with Xfce... Wow! It's very impressive! I admit I'm not a fan of the default theme for Fedora, nor do I like the menu, but it's trivial to add the Arc theme and Numix icons and swap the default ...

Re: Switched to XFCE =D

Yeah, I must admit Clem and the team of developers got it right when they have cinnamon as their main focus point. Cinnamon is very nice, always works and never have issues with it.

It isn't actually heavy as some people think, it's snappy and loads fast.

Sounds good!
If it doesn't work well or has issues just use Cinnamon, MATE or KDE! :D

Switched to XFCE =D

Just switched to XFCE the other day, used to use it years ago, always loved the whisker menu. I only just made a thread not too long ago: "KDE - what a surprise!"..... I still admire the KDE desktop it's very functional, found though it actually isn't for me. I did start having a few minor glitches ...

Re: Whisker menu speed

Only difference is, it doesn't show you the little spinning "busy" icon while you wait. Still, I love the distro! Lol, do you know why there is no "busy" mouse thing? Because Xfce is that fast, it doesn't cause you to wait! This isn't KDE... if you miss that busy animation, go to KDE, you wil...

Re: <SOLVED>Don't try this at home...

Sorry for reply on old thread. Hope this will just be a reference for someone in 2016/2017. Basically I recommend not to uninstall python at all. It looks like you worked it out. Alot of things depend on python that Ubuntu/Mint use. Linux mint out of the box comes pre-installed with Python 2 and Pyt...

Re: Hi - from a fairly disappointed first time user

Hello CharlP6! Welcome to Linux! Good choice is choosing Linux Mint. As others have said, the problem is the hardware of your PC. Your clock speed and processor is very dated and slow, however it should be usable atleast compared to windows 10 and its effects and animation and such. Definitely turn ...
