Re: BadBios firmware invasion rewrites itself

Much Joy!!! I falsely assumed that my bios battery hadn't died because Mint still showed the correct date and time. Then I checked the date and time on my BIOS setup. Well, needless to say, it had a 5 year error! I replaced the BIOS battery and the problem was solved.

[PROBLEM SOLVED]Re: need to press F1 to complete boot sequen

After taking time to think for a change, I pressed F2 to enter Setup. I went to Standard CMOS Features, Highlighted Drive A and changed the setting from 1.44 mb floppy drive to NONE (since there is no floppy drive on this computer).

Re: [SOLVED]HP scanner/printer

I found that the problem was solved by deleting the printer from both the printer configuration (located under administration) and also deleting the printer from Preferences HPILP ToolBox. I then re-installed the printer in Administration Printer Configuration and it works fine! JOY

Re: HP scanner/printer

I also ran a test on the HPILP driver. This opened a terminal window and ran hp-doctor. This said xsane package is missing/incompatible also the same with python3-notify2 package. I ran sudo apt-get install to correct this but still NO JOY.

Re: HP scanner/printer

I am using Mint 17.2 with the latest HPLIP and HPLIP-GUI software and I disabled my UFW firewall, but still NO JOY. I am at a complete loss. When I do the setup in the HPLIP-GUI, my printer/scanner are found, but the software stalls and does not complete the setup. My printer works normally as a wir...

[SOLVED]HP scanner/printer

My HP Envy 4501 wireless printer prints wirelessly but won't scan unless I connect with USB. I have installed HPLIP and HPLIP-GUI. This gets me a nice GUI interface but when I connect to USB as it tells me to do when doing Setup, it never connects wirelessly and never tells me to disconnect USB cabl...

Now that my files are copied to my external backup drive, how do I copy /etc and /lib directories? (with contents)

Re: Mint mate 17.2 upgrade from 17.1 mate

Thanks Cosmo

I was overlooking the obvious and trying to make things too complicated.
This is the fastest and easiest file backup I have ever done.

Re: Mint mate 17.2 upgrade from 17.1 mate

So then, I assume I should create a folder with todays date (for easy identification) on my external drive where I am copying my backup to. And then I assume it will be a simple drag and drop to that new folder on my external drive. Correct?

{SOLVED}Mint mate 17.2 upgrade from 17.1 mate

When I installed LM 17.1 mate, I had to do a workaround (mkdir /lib /firmware/43) to support my broadcom BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN.
Then, I had to copy b43/* to mkdir /lib /firmware/43.

If I upgrade to LM 17.2 mate, will I have to do this all over again or is there another way?
