Re: Linux Mint doesn't shut down most of the time

cool! :D this seems to do the trick quite well! I tested for a few days under regular conditions, and it seems to work very well now! thanks, tolkien! you helped me a lot and I learnt a lot... for future reference: I use the mobile broadband USB modem "ZTE MF636" and here on LM 17.x with Cinnamon it...

Re: Linux Mint doesn't shut down most of the time

hi again! the real world/long run test showed, that the problem is still there... when I work for a longer period of time (and not only testing booting/rebooting/shutdown relatively quickly), shutdown is still not working correctly, even with the latest 4.2 kernel! my motherboard is a couple of year...

Re: Linux Mint doesn't shut down most of the time

@ Pjotr: Update to last kernel from 3.16 didn't help. Update to kernel 3.19.0-33 seems to have fixed it! I have tested it a few times now - works perfectly so far. I didn't find any other new problems so far - but the long run will have to prove it of course... Thanks a lot!! :D @ tolkien: Thanks fo...

Re: Linux Mint doesn't shut down most of the time

Hi Pjotr, thanks for your help! I just tried two times: Boot without USB-broadband-stick - login - wait few seconds (do nothing) - shut down again: Try 1: hung with showing this in the middle of the screen (in orange letters): . . . . [ 55.294275] reboot: Power down Try 2: hung up with screen showin...

Linux Mint doesn't shut down most of the time [SOLVED]

Hi! I've got a problem: When I want to shut down my computer (LM 17.2 Cinnamon, all updates...), 8 out of 10 times it doesn't really, hangs forever with some information on screen and I have to disconnect the computer's power... I have no idea, what causes this or how to avoid it, what to do or not ...

Re: Printer Samsung CLP300 color prints too dark

Thanks for coming back though... ;) I tried anything I could possibly think of or find online (admittedly, I am no Linux specialist), but in the end also ended up printing with colour in virtual Windows. Black/white is absolutely OK for me and as simple as possible in Linux, just add printer automat...

Re: [Nemo] Alphabetical order: "non-character" signs ignored

To put it into different words: What I am looking for is a simple way of putting certain folders/files on top of the alphabetical list - to access them without scrolling and looking for them somewhere down the line... Color-Coding or Symbols are great, but not so useful when you have a larger amount...

Thanks, Flemur - but I like Nemo a lot and it works great for all my needs, so I really don't want to use another file browser...

Can't this behaviour be configured? I naively though that anything can be configured on Linux... 8)

Re: [Nemo] Alphabetical order: "non-character" signs ignored

Hi Reorx, thanks a lot for the tipp! If at all possible I would love to stay with my old scheme because I have huge ammounts of old data stored that way and I am not really looking forward to go through the stuff to exchange one old quick and dirty bugfix with a new one... Is there really no other p...

[Nemo] Alphabetical order: "non-character" signs ignored?

I tried hard to find an answer myself, but was not able to... I found a lot of info, but no solution... I switched from WindowsXP a while ago and have one "problem" with the order of folder/file names in Nemo. I am used to move certain "important" folders to the top of the list by adding a "_" to th...

Lack of English terms on non-English systems?

I am using LM in German, my native language. I am astounded by the degree it is translated - but sometimes I wonder if there is something like "too much translation"... In German we use a lot of English words, especially in fields like technology or science, but LM seems to ignore that sometimes, wh...
