Re: No boot loader Mint 17.1 and Windows 7?

Please post the result of the Boot Info Script. Install boot-info-script: sudo apt-get install boot-info-script Then run the script: sudo bootinfoscript Post the results here - http://pastebin.com/ - and copy the resulting link to the forum. Done, I think. Ran it, pasted it, and submitted it. TA

No problem I just selected the other options set up my drive from the free space I set aside, a root, home and swap drive. It installed perfe...

Re: Mint 17 Shutdown causes Restart!

I think I saw about an acpi kernel boot parameter being a fix for some people. I'll see if I can find it again, I think it was just acpi=shutdown, but I don't know about these parameters. one person said acpi=force worked for them. in Terminal program: gksudo gedit /etc/default/grub find the line: ...

Re: New to Linux, Hello

Thanks I hope to be around for a long time. I like a challenge to learn something new, it will be tough to not look at it through the narrow view of window OS, but I'm up for the challenge.

Re: Fire Fox problems

Spell check fixed, that was easy, I guess I needed to Google it harder! Just now if I can get the page load issues resolved the Yahoo is a real head scratcher I cant seem to find anyone with the same problem.

Thanks for the help.

Re: What are your top tips for a Newbie?

A good list of terminal commands and simple explanation of what they do and when you should use them? Biggest problem I run into is not having all the acronyms explained, people rattle off a list of Linux acronyms and don't enplane what there are or what they mean and where you can find said file. I...

Laggy downloads or installs?

From the videos that I have seen on YouTube my installs are very slow and laggy, I'm new to Linux so I don't really know what to expect but it appears to have a lot of hang time on some parts of the downloads and installs. So far this seems to be the biggest problem I have. Also the update manager i...
