Re: Source code apt-get source

Well, its freedom to post or not to post, to reply and not to reply but this situation totally busted the myth (for me) about famous Linux community where everybody jumps to help. Anyway, freedom... my 2 cents I decided to post and to notify the community how I kind of fixed this issue I experience...

Re: Windows 10 to be free upgrade

I thought Linux and open source was about having choices, it seems auto update is not a choice Actually, it is. As a user, you have the choice to install whatever you want and to install/update when you want it You also have the choice and are free to get the source code, modify it to your flavor a...

Re: extremely slow file copy to USB

''it takes about 90 minutes to complete - 13 GB of files'' => 2.4MB/s sustained write => your pendrive is causing this; that's as fast as it can go. Hi, Just to update you. It's not my pendrive nor my PC - I just reimaged the machine and been testing with Ubuntu15, Ubuntu GNOME 15, Xubuntu 14 and L...

And remember: the time after a new Flash player release is always just the time before the next 0-day-exploit. +1 If Adobe decides to do something good to the Internet community and if they want to prove they care about their customers/users, they should immediately stop developing it, remov...

Re: extremely slow file copy to USB

Hi all,

Thanks for the reply. Sorry for the delay.

Just to notify you that the issue is somewhat [resolved] improved. Nautius doesn't give any issue. The file copy speed is still slow (but faster) and so far no freezing with nautilus. I am considering transferring to MATE

Re: Boot time over 1 minute - machine slow

I booted via Live media (Live USB pen drive) and started the Benchmark utility in Disks to also check the HDD with this method.
It showed that both for the read/write, the average was about ~ 100 MB/s

Compared to your results, mines are insane :D <slow>

Re: Boot time over 1 minute - machine slow

Over one minute is abnormal. My computer boots in about 15-20 seconds. I'm not familar with boot charts, but it seems from yours that many different boot processes are taking a long time. This suggests to me (and I might be wrong) that reading from your hard drive is abnormally slow. Thank you! Is ...

Re: Why Linux? Why not Microsoft?

There are many reasons why I switched from Microsoft Windows to GNU/Linux. It did not happen suddenly, it was due to many Microsoft decisions in the past years - decisions that first I did not fancy, then I really disliked, at the end I hated and now I can't stand :) I have been long time Microsoft ...
