Re: Need some wifi help (hotspot + bridge)
Ugh....... Non of the 3 routers I have are supported. Bummer! Slim pickens with that firmware. So back to my OP. Can I bridge 2 routers with one of the antenna ports and run a hotspot or access point with the other port after bridging? Linksys WRT54GL v1.x, WRT54G v1-v4, WRT54GS v1-v4, WRTSL54GS (no...

Re: Need some wifi help (hotspot + bridge)
Hopefully tomato will be compatible with 2 of my 3 spare routers.
Can I bridge 2 routers with a yagi on one antenna port and also have the other port act as a hotspot with an omni external?

Re: Vostro 1500 laptop, GM965 chipset, How much RAM per slot
Correct, my 32bit system supports 4 gigs. But what I wanted to know is this:
Can I use --->1 stick of 4gigs or must I use 2x2gigs which is slower. 1 stick of 4gigs is faster.

Vostro 1500 laptop, GM965 chipset, How much RAM per slot?
I have an older laptop that runs great on linux. Its a Dell Vostro 1500, GM965 intel chipset, PAE support, 2 slots that support DDR2 667-800. Can I run one slot of 4gb or do I have to run 2 slots of 2gb ea? I currently have 2 slots of 1gb and its not enough. Crucial wizards gives me 2x1 http://www.c...

Re: Cloned OS to New SSD, swap in middle, cant resize main p
Had one small issue and that was it was pulling up the LIVE fstab. I browsed to the sda1 file and edited that. Used properties on gparted to get uid.
All is good........thanks again

Re: Boot time is way too long (4+ minutes)
Just installed a SSD in my old laptop. Boot time went from 2+ mins to 14 seconds. Extremely happy! Also I read on another site to disable mobile connections during boot. It might be trying to connect or try to connect to a mobile network. If you install an SSD there are quite a few changes you need ...

Re: Cloned OS to New SSD, swap in middle, cant resize main p
As I suspected your disk is not recognized so what you can do is delete everything past sda1, then extend sda1 to the right and leave 2 to 4 gig for a swap. Do this from the live media. Then you will have to run blkid again to get the UUID of the swap partition and modify the swap line in /etc/fsta...

Re: Cloned OS to New SSD, swap in middle, cant resize main p
This is the fist I've seen of zram being used for swap. Although you have an fstab entry the disk is not being used. As I first suspected it doesn't appear that your swap partition is being recognized. Can you paste back the output of sudo blkid 1) user@laptop ~ $ sudo blkid [sudo] password for use...

Re: Cloned OS to New SSD, swap in middle, cant resize main p
I don't see a swap partition there :? Everything past /dev/sda1 is unallocated or unknown. What do these return grep -v ^# /etc/fstab free -h cat /proc/swaps 1) user@laptop ~ $ grep -v ^# /etc/fstab UUID=986a8d21-5425-465b-b759-5ba23023940e / ext4 errors=remount-ro 0 1 UUID=4715af2e-42fa-4a65-ac28-...

Cloned OS to New SSD, swap in middle, cant resize main parti
Screenshot.png I have tried to google this and found some solutions but really dont understand them. I do not want to trash my system and have a black screen at boot. I replaced my failing HDD drive (120gigs) with a new SSD drive (240gigs). I have the main partition 120gig then a small swap and the...

Re: X corrupt or missing after 9 months- Bad HD?
I have downloaded macrium reflect 6 free. I am making a clone now. All I want is a clone of "the way it was". I really dont care if I lose a few files. My mail is imap so that is safe. I want my computer the way it was without having to re-setup everything the way I wanted it. Thanks.........

I noticed the "disk" utility has the option to clone. Should I use that? If so how do I restore from an img file?

Re: X corrupt or missing after 9 months- Bad HD?
At first: Running this program from a VM is technically impossible. At second: To my knowledge you can as long as you have not paid for it only repair the first damaged sector. And if it is worth to buy it at all is another question (which only you can answer); I have my doubt, as to may knowledge ...

X corrupt or missing after 9 months- Bad HD?
I managed to repair X and after ran mem check and hd test. Mem was OK after 23 runs. HD reported OK but had 1540 bad sectors. I am wondering if that is too much or if my drive is failing. Its a 300 gig laptop drive and about 3 years old.
