Are you sure that wasn't "type -d"?

used #1

Sometimes, find $DIR_TO_DELETE -type f -delete is faster than rm -rf.

You may also want to try out mkdir /tmp/empty && rsync -r --delete /tmp/empty/ $DIR_TO_DELETE.

Help!, bleachbit'ch made a mess of my computer

It made a folder and filled it up with 0-byte files and there millions of them. Maybe over 3 million. I cant delete the folder as the machine freezes ...

Re: Dell Inspiron 3542 inconvenience/Display dims with boot

Have you looked at the bios setting? I had a laptp doing that and it was set in the bios to be at XX setting. I changed it to 90%.

Maybe also look at the power mangmt--> brightness tab in your control panel.

Re: Only 2 steps in brightness control

Guess I should have mentioned that from the tray->battery icon->brightness tab I can adjust to 7 different levels. What I was wondering is this. Is there any way to connect those 7 different levels to the brightness button on the front of my laptop. Doing it any other way is just a pain and I use it...

SOLVED--Lost top right corner controls for all open windows

So I am not sure if I did something or it happened during an update. But I have lost 2 out of 3 of the top/right controls (minimize, maximize, close). I have the box icon/control left but the - and x are gone. Its missing on all open windows like firefox, mail, open folders etc.

Anyway to fix this?

Re: Jumped ship from pclos to mint, so happy, and a question

Although I think Linux Mint is at the moment "Linux's finest", it's not without bugs either. Nothing is, in this imperfect world of ours.... That said: no Linux support forum can tolerate that somebody keeps saying that the Linux it supports is bad, right? Such behaviour would seem rather...

Is bleachbit safe to run?

I have run it on other linux systems and they were buggy. I am wondering if maybe it did some damage? Or is it safe?

Jumped ship from pclos to mint, so happy, and a question

Hi, Well so far so good with mint. After the horrible 4 month run on pclos I am so happy to have a working laptop. Pclos was a bug ridden system and thats putting it mildly. I will post the bugs I saw at the bottom. The website admin banned me for speaking my mind about pclos and the bugs. You canno...
