Re: HOW-TO make dual-boot obsolete using kvm VGA passthrough

I am wondering if the default intel pro nic I am using has severe limitations. I will try your nic settings. See my reply above. It's important to know whether or not your PC uses a wireless connection to your router. EDIT: Also notice my earlier post on pci_stub and your startup script. ok, found ...

Re: HOW-TO make dual-boot obsolete using kvm VGA passthrough

@bash64: Sorry to hear about your roommate - hope he's doing OK. About Windows and setting up synergy: If you have a router and access to the configuration, the best way is to set up a bridge and let the router assign the IP. This way you set an IP on the router associated to with the "virtual" MAC...

Re: HOW-TO make dual-boot obsolete using kvm VGA passthrough

I just happen to own a copy of synergy. I am setting it up but windows 7 is set to dhcp and is getting 10.0.2.15. My router doesn't do that. Linux is 192.168.1.150. I assume the emulator has some sort of built in router/dhcp server. I changed the IP address in windows to no avail. How do set the IP ...

Re: HOW-TO make dual-boot obsolete using kvm VGA passthrough

Thanks for this. Unfortunately I discovered your article several days after I finally got it working which took me a year. :-( I have what I hope is a simple issue. I start windows 7 using -vga none. If I don't then windows 7 complains that the nvidia card cannot get enough resources to start. Basic...

Cannot turn off write caching.

I have a SD card reader in my laptop. I want to turn off write caching for just that one drive. Neither hdparm nor sdparm can handle the drive. It seems like Cinnamon is handling the caching as it warns me when ejecting that I must wait for it to write out the cache. Where can I control write cachin...

Icons become jumbled

What hidden system folder contains the icon positions.
There are multiple situations where my icons will be jumbled such as:
game in low res
monitors being turned off/on
cinnamon bug

I need to backup that folder and restore when this happens.
Thanks

Re: Linux Mint 18 codenamed “Sarah”

All went well for me. I run a complex mint 17.3 setup.
I am running mint 18 with few issues.
I did have a huge issue getting booted using upstart, but I have a procedure for that now.
If anyone wants a copy of the procedure I can post it.
You can boot the old init or upstart with it.

Re: Linux Mint 18 codenamed “Sarah”

Where can I download the official beta iso images for mint 18?
I am seeing at least one website offering the downloads.
Is this safe? :

Re: 17.3 Mate LUKS Boot with Logitech Wireless KB

Here is my custom build-ramdisk.sh script. This will build a new ramdisk with the proper logitech modules so that you can get your logitech receiver working on boot. It is called like this (don't forget to use sudo!): >sudo ./build-ramdisk.sh {kernel version} Example: >sudo ./build-ramdisk.sh 4.4.0-...

temproray stored luks keys

Hello,

I accidentally told cinnamon to store the passphrase for my luks encrypted drive (Remember forever).
Where did it put the key? I want to delete it and reselect (Remember till I log out).
Seems very unsafe to have cinnamon remember your key forever.
