Re: LMDE Cinnamon Wallpaper/Screensaver Issues

I recently began experiencing this same problem with LM 13 Maya Cinnamon 1.6.7 desktop. Right-click on desktop, click "Change Desktop Background," and System Settings opens. So it's not just confined to LMDE editions. I don't have an answer for why it's doing it. Thanks for confirming that behavior...

Re: SOLVED Re: how to remove XP from my LMDE dual boot

It worked, studied up on using gparted first. That was the scary part. Did not want to mess up the partitions, then update grub was easy. Worked really well. Thanks for all the help! :D Cool! Whenever I use tools like 'gparted', I am reminded of the words 'With great power comes great responsibilit...

Let us know if it works out for you. Of course you must be very careful to delete the *right* partition or else you will regret your actions :)

Re: Fujitsu Lifebook AH530

My advise would be to 'live boot' LMDE (or whatever distro) on your laptop from a USB stick to directly see whether it works well or not, since there is no risk and minimal effort involved in running a test like that. I have an old Fujitsu Lifebook myself (P2120), which runs LMDE well enough, but it...

Re: how to remove XP from my LMDE dual boot

I have XP and LMDE on a IBM Thinkpad and want to remove XP. How can I safely remove XP. I don't want to have to reinstall LMDE, mine is running perfectly as it is. Just don't use XP anymore. Is there a way without losing my existing LMDE. Here are my quick thoughts: Assuming that you are using 'GRU...

Using 'unetbootin' should work just fine -- at least it has for me in the past. Have you tried burning another distro with the same app and attempting to boot it the same way?

LMDE Cinnamon Wallpaper/Screensaver Issues

Running the latest LMDE (update pack 6) with Cinnamon, and noticed some strange behaviors on likewise-configured machines: - Right-clicking on background brings up 'Change Desktop Background' option, but clicking this takes me to 'System Settings' instead of (?) 'Cinnamon Settings' (where the 'Backg...

Re: LMDE: Screen sluggish when scrolling LibreOffice, Caja.

I have actually manually installed the latest version of LibreOffice a few weeks ago - the issue is still there. Experienced it today! Sadly, you are correct. I have, however, downloaded three *newer* versions (3.5.7 and 3.6.4 and 4.0.0) with the intent of finding out which one 'fixes' this problem...

I have the exact same problem, but I was certain it was a result of messing with sid repos! I've got a 32 bit system and all of the ram such a system can handle... ... It's one of the reasons I can't wait for a respin - I want to clean my system and start from scratch, hoping the issue will be gone...

Re: LMDE: Screen sluggish when scrolling LibreOffice, Caja.

Hmmm...I am using Cinnamon 1.6 with LMDE and just noticed the same extremely sluggish scrolling with a LibreOffice 'writer' document myself. I have lots of memory (4gb). My 'lspci' entry also lacks any reference to 'intelfb': 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 4 Series Chipset Inte...

Lots of people know more than me, but they seem to be not on the board so much it seems. Thanks for commenting on the secondary question re: timing of the beta getting into the repos, but do you have any thoughts on my other query i.e. the best method of installation? If I were guessing, maybe the ...

Re: Getting fglrx to work on sid/liquorix

Was the issue of using the AMD zip/run file to install Catalyst/fglrx 12.10 into an LMDE environment resolved? I am tentatively planning to purchase a "Radeon HD 7750" graphics card, and would eventually need to chose between using experimental repos to install (version 12.10), or using the zip/run ...

Great work guys, and special thanks to breaker for the custom ISO!

Now I hope the Mint guys have been watching this thread and will take what has been learned here into account for future releases of our favorite distros :)

Re: USB disk issue with brand new Mint-Debian install.

The messages don't mean anything to me, but I would recommend Googling a few of them to see what shows up. A few I have read suggest: 1) Trying a different kernel (?) 2) Checking the output of SMART data from the drive 3) Un-mounting the drive and running fsck repairs My own thoughts were to simply ...

Good job on your continued sleuthing, breaker! You have now gone *far* beyond what I could have done myself.

This makes me wonder if the root cause is something intrinsic to Ubuntu-derivative distros i.e. could the Mint folks could not have foreseen or avoided this?
