Re: Wi-Fi signal booster
Well, that's a whole different story. How do you want to boost the signal if it's not yours? Did you plan on installing the repeater at a neighbor's? All that's left in that situation is boosting the reception. Running some wire down the side of your apartment complex to serve as an antenna would s...

Re: Wi-Fi signal booster
I did mean it actually. I'd like something that acts like a 5g Wi-Fi antennae, can be set to capture a specific signal, then boost that signal, and then send it out via Bluetooth. Am I asking too much? Depends on the specific signal. Are we just talking about a wlan to bluetooth bridge? I suppose t...

Re: Wi-Fi signal booster
Ignoring the bluetooth part, since I don't think you actually meant that, if you want to boost Wi-Fi strength/range then yes, there are plenty devices, look for something of this type: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_repeater I did mean it actually. I'd like something that acts like a 5g Wi-...

Wi-Fi signal booster
I need to boost a weak Wi-Fi signal. Is there already a device on the retail market that you can set to a specific signal, which then traps and amplifies it, then sends it out as a Bluetooth signal to your PC or phone?

Re: Locked out - help!!!
...magicchance - i don't know if iommu is the actual culprit or if it is a red herring as AscLinux suggests: never stumbled upon that kfd warning before myself. Run fsck, and pay note to whatever messages returned back in regards to which files got corrupted and/or repaired. Why such happened, with...

Re: Locked out - help!!!
1) ... iommu explained ... (look in your bios for either Intel VT-d/x or IOMMU, and enable such...) 2) ...it's asking you to run a manual filesystem check / repair... type sudo fsck -yvf /dev/sda1 , press enter... 1. I don't see anything like this in the bios. 2. I am locked out. I can't get to my ...

How do you do that exactly?
What is iommu, and why does it lock me out of my PC?

Re: need help recovering deleted files
It's possible, depending. We need to know the file system the partition holding the lost files in using. I'm a total noob. I didn't create any extra partitions upon installation, just used the standard one or two that come with. I'm happy to provide any other info, if you can show me what you need ...

need help recovering deleted files
Six months ago I freed up space on my HD by deleting around 100G of files. But now I need some of them back. FYI, my PC has been off during this time (I was away on a trip), and this disc space has not been over-written by new files since the deletion occurred. Can this be done?

Re: Update Manager broken
Is closing the UM window a requirement? If so, that explains it. I had left it open while trying to make the fix.

SOLVED - Update Manager broken
See attached pic. Some time yesterday my Update Manager stopped working, and I keep getting this warning. No idea what's going on, or why. Anyone else having this same trouble? Does anyone know how to get past it?

Re: Handbrake tips and tricks?
But see if Handbrake-menu: File ->Single Title. makes any difference. Nope. I'm not getting anything with this, that I don't already get by just right-clicking straight on the DVD in the tray, and copying all the highlighted VOB files. Which is just a bunch of messy smaller files, but it's no diffe...

Re: Handbrake tips and tricks?
What happens when you enter the chapters by hand? (All of them, for one output file) Does it change it back? Thanks for stepping in. After scanning the source it tells you how many chapters there are. But then you have to select them individually, and rip them individually. As far as I can see ther...

Handbrake tips and tricks?
I've searched and watched tutorials, but I can't find an answer as of yet: Is there a command for taking all the individual chapters and converting them into a single MP4 file while converting/ripping? At the moment, it only allows me to rip individual chapters, not even batches of chapters, and so ...
