Re: aux. WIFI not found

I thought about this a little more. Is Secure Boot enabled in the BIOS? The 4.4.0-21 kernel that was the original kernel for LM18 did not enforce Secure Boot rules, everything later did and since the rtl8812au is compiled from source, it is unsigned and a kernel that enforces Secure Boot rules with...

Re: aux. WIFI not found

Does it work in kernel 4.4.0-93? The modinfo looks correct Right now the only wifi signal/icon visible in the wifi tray is for the laptop internal. Last week there were 2 choices, but now only one. So far the Realtek is not showing up in the wifi tray. (I have rebooted twice today already as well.)...

Re: aux. WIFI not found

I would go back to the 4.4.0 kernels and sudo apt-get install --reinstall rtl8812au-dkms I just looked and this version doesn't work at all with the 4.10 kernels. The 4.4 kernel is supported until 2021 where the 4.8 is already unsupported and 4.10 will be unsupported sometime in January 2018 The re...

Re: aux. WIFI not found

Where did you get the module for the USB wifi card? Did you do a kernel update since? I updated to Sonya last week. I had some issues with it, such as these WIFI troubles. So I backtracked one kernal from 4.10 to 4.8. But no other modifications. I'm a total noob, so I don't usually try to mess arou...

Re: aux. WIFI not found

Ah, that's better. I take it you need to disable this: Card-2: Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 / AR9565 Wireless Network Adapter driver: ath9k If so, this should fix it: echo "blacklist ath9k" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf OK, but I'm sure to want to use the built in WIFI again so...

[SOLVED] aux. WIFI not found

Newbie here, please be gentle. Upgraded to LM 18.2/Sonya over the weekend, but lost the connectivity to my 5G auxiliary antennae. Now when I right-click the WIFI icon in the lower right tray, only the laptop's built-in WIFI signal is shown. How do I get Sonya to recognize the better/stronger/preferr...

I did exactly as you said just now, but it didn't work. Should I try again, but go to an even lower kernal in the list?

Re: Do not like 18.2!

Item 3: Desktop Icon sizes. I don't bother with desktop icons as I prefer the 'minimalist' look, however I think 18.2 replaced the option to resize individual icons with a global option where you can specify 'Smaller' 'Normal' or 'Larger'. Right click on the desktop, select Desktop / Icon Size, the...

Re: Do not like 18.2!

On one of your points (and assuming Cinnamon DE), check main menu / privacy and confirm whether 'Remenber recently accessed files' is turned on or off. If it's on then recent files will be remembered and 'Clear list' will show at the bottom of the list when you click on menu / 'Recent Files'. That ...
