Re: Do not like 18.2!

Cinnamon is a desktop environment. Sonya is a version. The Sonya version of Linux Mint comes with four different desktop environments: KDE, Mate, XCFE and Cinnamon. It may be helpful to tell people what you current desktop environment is. Not just the version (18.2 / Sonya). I have no idea. I updat...

Re: Do not like 18.2!

Thanks guys for the helpful responses. I'm still trying to figure out why a newbie is being flamed so bad for posting in the newbie section, but oh well. Anyway, here are my experiences with Sophia 18.2 so far, and why we are not getting along so well, she and I. In order of importance...: 1. WIFI c...

Re: DO NOT LIKE 18.2!!!!!!

You'll have to reinstall your former OS from 2 days ago after backing up your data. As I just wrote to a very unhelpful troll, I have been using LM as my sole OS for the last 2-1/2 years. I am very happy with LM in general, but so far I am having too many issues with v18.2 and would like to go back...

Do not like 18.2!

Mods, I hate LM 18.2. How can I get back to my former OS from 2 days ago the quickest and easiest way, without any lost data?

LM 18.2 issues

Newbie here. I just updated to LM 18.2. But now it doesn't "see" or recognize my auxiliary Realtec 5g wifi antennae. It does connect to the on-board wifi, but I need the auxiliary. The previous version allowed me to turn off the on-board wifi and go with just the auxiliary, which worked gr...

Google Chrome: no pubkey error - NO_PUBKEY 6494C6D6997C215E

Was just now trying to run apt update and got this error warning: W: An error occurred during the signature verification. The repository is not updated and the previous index files will be used. Re: Reporting a bug to the devs

When you write "Chrome" do you actually mean Google Chrome or Chromium? Google Chrome uses its own PepperFlash and not Adobe Flash from your package manager unless something got misconfigured. Check which Flash you're using on chrome://flash/. Google Chrome comes from its own repository a...

Reporting a bug to the devs

Hey devs, there is a new bug regarding Adobe Flash. When I perform Ctrl-H while in Chrome, all the AF presets are also deleted, and the only way to get AF working again is to reinstall. (I am using the Synaptic Package Manager for this.) This is a new problem. It has been happening the last 4 or 5 t...

Re: APT cache corrupted - ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE

Solved. It was a broken mirror. It took 3 tries, but I was finally able to connect with a mirror that could provide a full and correct update. Since it took so long and seemed to affect more than one mirror, seems to me that what ever it was, was not attacking me but was attacking the system and the...

SOLVED -- APT cache corrupted - ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE

I am getting ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE flags on almost every web site I visit. YouTube and Facebook are OK, but almost everything else shows trouble. I am lucky to be able to reach this site right now. Also, the LM Update Manager shows an APT cache is corrupted warning. If this is some sort of malware, I h...

Bug report to the LM devs

A bug report to the LM devs. The latest round of updates has disabled my wifi. Realtec 802.11n NIC. For the last 3 months everything has been working fine. But things broke down about 2 days ago with the latest round of updates. My mouse is also acting up a bit, and now I must double click on EVERYT...

Re: LM18 goes to sleep too often

Here's a perfect example of what's been happening to me recently. This now occurs at least 5-10 times per hour as of the last 48 hours. It even happens when I am actively working on the Web. Notice that I am getting full bars in the lower right, and yet I am told that I am actually offline, etc. It ...

Re: LM18 goes to sleep too often

What I am trying to say is, is it caused by LM18 or is it your wifi device? It's not from my end. Over the last 3 or 4 days, there have been several incoming updates, and they are playing hell with my Web access. If you look over the various thread titles in Newbie Questions, you can see other guys...

Re: LM18 goes to sleep too often

Notice to LM devs: After updates yesterday, my wifi is now cutting off every 5 to 10 minutes! Three weeks ago my wifi was working perfectly. It would be great to have it back like that again!

Re: LM18 goes to sleep too often

I reset the wifi by unplugging/replugging the wifi cable. wifi is a wireless network connection. So what is a wifi cable, except a contradiction in itself? :? I use a 5k wifi booster by Ralink. Unplugging/replugging the USB cable to it is the fastest way to reset my wifi, which also fixes this prob...

LM18 goes to sleep too often

I like the new LM18 just fine, but it goes to sleep/disconnects even when I'm actively surfing the Web. And it usually stays off until I reset the wifi by unplugging/replugging the wifi cable. It's becoming tedious, almost painful. I never had this issue with 17.3. Is there any help for this?

Re: Help installing true type fonts in LM18 (Solved, sort of)

Well, there's one problem - you have a zip file, not a ttf file. I am able to open the zip files, always have. EG, the problem I'm having is not in opening the zip files. Once I'm inside the zip file, I see the source file for the font, with the .ttf suffix. I right-click on this. Before, with LM17...
