Re: Linux Mint 18 Working on Chuwi Hi12 Tablet PC 64 Bit Cherry Trail Quad Core

Just a note. I haven't given up on this topic. Just got busy with some other things. Shifting this into a more slow progress thing. I need to rebuild the driver with the dev's latest code. cheers, -Brad- Just to document the status of the subject of the touchscreen driver, here is the latest commen...

Re: Linux Mint 18 Working on Chuwi Hi12 Tablet PC 64 Bit Cherry Trail Quad Core

Hi all I'm interested in the tablet. Any news regarding the linux supprot? That's a pretty broad question. Things are inching forward for support of many Cherry-Trail based tablets and little by little more touchscreen drivers are being added or updated in the kernel currently being worked on for r...

Re: Grub menu showing Ubuntu as an option !

At a guess, your system probably has more than one kernel in its repsoitories. Follow the link and install grub-customiser, then either post a screen shot of your menu entries or just highlight the entry and delete to remove it. http://linuxg.net/how-to-install-grub-customizer-4-0-6-on-ubuntu-linux...

Re: How to prepare for version 18.0

I'm curious which tool you use for backing up stuff, imaging/cloning partitions. ? I always back up my personal data partition with grsync  Grsync backups of root and /home I sometimes use gparted to clone partitions  Moving the root partition to a new drive Yet your list of apps incl...

Re: How to prepare for version 18.0

Really, the only reliable way is to look through your menu and note all of the programs you have installed manually. The dpkg --get-selections > apps.txt list can help as a reference, as mentioned above. dpkg -l | grep ii >> installed-programs.list is another useful one, which provides program desc...

NetworkManager 1.4 safe to build & install on LM18?

I was told earlier versions of NM has some problems/bugs that cause disconnects. NetworkManager 1.4 was marked "stable". So is it safe to build and install on LM18? I went through this build/install procedure: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/svn/basicnet/networkmanager.html In a nutshell y...

Re: slow booting after move to SSD

Yeah, I def did not do things correctly like this: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MovingLinuxPartition If I plug in my old HD via USB and run blkid I can see partitions with duplicate UUID's. I'll prob format/wipe that drive but I'm guessing I ran update-grub with that drive connected via USB and...

Re: slow booting after move to SSD

Linux may well be looking for a partition (for me it's usually a swap space) that's just not there any more. Installers have an annoying habit of formatting existing swap space, which breaks system 1 while installing system 2. If GRUB's kernel argument root=UUID=xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx...

slow booting after move to SSD

I just migrated a Win10+LM18 dual-boot config on my notebook HD to a Samsung 850 EVO SSD. I used the Samsung disk cloning software to migrate my Windows 10 config/partition, which worked fine from the start. Then I didn't know how to best migrate my LM18 partition because using a Clonezilla live-USB...

Re: Linux Mint 18 Working on Chuwi Hi12 Tablet PC 64 Bit Cherry Trail Quad Core

@mauser , Is there a pattern for this wrong values of the touches? There is a setting in the device configuration that switches the X and Y axes. Do these wrong touches follow this pattern or are they just random? Like it's flipped top to bottom? The developer gave me directions how how to create t...

Re: Linux Mint 18 Working on Chuwi Hi12 Tablet PC 64 Bit Cherry Trail Quad Core

It's complaining about a missing firmware file
Goodix-TS i2c-GDIX1001:00: Direct firmware load for goodix_9111_cfg.bin failed with error -2
which is not surprising as this ID 9111 is new and specific to the Chuwi Hi12. Will inform the developer and get back to you.

Re: Linux Mint 18 Working on Chuwi Hi12 Tablet PC 64 Bit Cherry Trail Quad Core

@mauser_270, the goodix touchscreen driver developer made some changes and asked for this to be tested when you can: git clone https://github.com/blocksonic/gt9xx cd gt9xx sudo make install sudo depmod -a sudo modprobe -rv goodix_backport sudo modprobe -v goodix_backport sudo reboot I omitted the 'm...

I was told for sound, that has to be probed via Acpi with the current drivers so you should put that setting back.

try going through this Ubuntu Sound Troubleshooting procedure. I'm wondering if it could be related to Pulseaudio which works in tandem with Alsa.

Re: Linux Mint 18 Working on Chuwi Hi12 Tablet PC 64 Bit Cherry Trail Quad Core

It looks like that alsa-lib build sequence worked for me. After doing that I ran that alsa-info script and it created a file with the following (note, I happened to have booted kernel 4.7 not 4.8-rc5 but I doubt it matters)... !!ALSA Version !!------------ Driver version: k4.7.0-040700-generic Libra...
