Re: China, internet censorship and no VPN for Linux

You could look through this thread:

https://airvpn.org/topic/14938-dual-boo ... -25-steps/

That thread's title is a bit inflammatory, but there's a lot of good information in there about locking linux/vpns down.

Re: PSA: Google Chrome drops support for 32 bit and Mint 13

Well, yesterday I "fixed" this by editing my sources in Update Manager to include that [arch=amd64] bit. That worked for a whole day. This morning, something seems to have "corrected" the repository path by removing the [arch=amd64]. So, I'm back to having that error. In one of the threads floating ...

Re: PSA: Google Chrome drops support for 32 bit and Mint 13

Google Chrome developers have announced that from early March 2016 they will no longer support 32 bit builds of Google Chrome on Linux or any build of Google Chrome on Linux Mint 13 (Ubuntu 12.04) specifically.... Q: How do I remove Google Chrome? A: You can remove Google Chrome from Software Manag...

Re: How to type the square root symbol in LMDE 2 Cinnamon?

If I'm looking at your screenshot correctly, take a look at the upper left corner. It looks like you just click on the symbol you want to use. In this case, it should be the 4th row of symbols.

Re: Steam suddenly crashes on startup.

You could try looking over the issues at:

https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam- ... +is%3Aopen

There are a few crashing issues there right now, but they don't look quite the same as what you're seeing.

I've seen this issue reported several times on these forums without a solution. You might consider going to:

https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam- ... +is%3Aopen

and reporting it there, too.

Re: Steam on a new computer

I'll grasp at a straw here and ask if you changed the filter for your game formats. In Steam, under the Library tab, right next to the Search bar at the top (and directly under the Library tab), it should be telling you the filter it's applying to your games library. If you hover over the Library ta...

...I got sent a code and downloaded the client. But the client does nothing. It doesn't even asking me to log in. Just nothing. I click and nothing happens. The order of things bothers me. You should have installed the software first, and when signing in to that, Steam should have sent you a code t...

Re: I need to turn 27 pages into one pdf

Not a Linux answer, but if you have an Android phone, you can use the Google Drive app on the phone. Open it, hit the plus sign at the bottom right corner and select Scan. Take a picture of the first page and when it comes up for review, hit the plus sign on the left-bottom instead of the check mark...

Power Manager Icon Missing

Hopefully, I'm in the right sub-forum and using the right terms. The Power Manager icon in my System Tray (Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon x64) has disappeared. This is a desktop machine, so there's no battery in it. But, it was nicely displaying the battery level for my mouse (though I'm pretty sure the k...

Re: 17.3 doesn't see files on NAS server

Just for the sake of posterity, I'll add that, in my case, this might be a problem with my NAS. Yesterday, the "sudo mount -a" wouldn't work ("unable to find suitable address"). After a bit of looking around, I found that my NAS (Asustor AS5002T) was neither sleeping nor waking according to the sche...

Rats. I started worrying about that when I couldn't find any reference to _netdev in the fstab man page.

Re: 17.3 doesn't see files on NAS server

In your case it may be the line in fstab is executing before the network is up. If that happens the system doesn't go back to try again. From what I've been able to find, the "_netdev" option in my fstab entry is supposed to delay mounting of the device until the network is up. This is the first ti...

Re: 17.3 doesn't see files on NAS server

Run the following command to force a mount and post any error: sudo mount -a Odd. Between my previous edit to my post and your reply, above, I'd gotten your suggestion of a manual mount to work. I then rebooted and the samba share was still there. I'm pretty sure manual mounts don't survive reboots...

Re: 17.3 doesn't see files on NAS server

Just a quick note to say you're not alone. Updated from Linux Mint 17.2 Cinnamon x64 last night and I can't get to the files on my Asustor AS5002T NAS using my samba mount point. I'll start looking at altair4's suggestions. EDIT: Documenting what I'm seeing so far -- - I can use my browser to see th...

Re: Failed Steam Install Erased Free Space

Take a look at the hidden .steam folder under your home. I'd guess the install left it there. Assuming nothing of value to you is in it, you could try deleting it.
