No. I assumed that your system was running on the 3.13.0-83 kernel. If it's running on the 4.4.0-45, I recommend the 4.4.0-62.

Check your running kernel:

Code: Select all

uname -r
uname -r

Code: Select all

4.4.0-45-generic
Thanks Pjtor; I'll install the 4x -62 at some point then.

Re: Should I download/update Linux Firmware 1.157.8?

No immediate need, but some time ago there were two kernel security issues with more relevance for desktop users than usual, which were fixed in a newer kernel. So in your place I would install the 3.13.0-108 kernel, which contains those fixes. If, upon reboot, you encounter problems with the -108 k...

Re: Should I download/update Linux Firmware 1.157.8?

But that's just the thing for newbies like me -only been using Mint 17.2 Sept or Oct 2015 and I still have Level 5 stuff I have not installed. How do I know I needed it and didn't install it? At the beginning, I used to install them without discrimination but after reading the many posts with warnin...

is there a repo for that ?

EDIT: found it - https://www.google.co.uk/chrome/browser/desktop/

Isn't it the same old version this links to? I tried it and at the end of 'install' GDebi says the same version already exists. Were you able to install the latest version, 56, via this link?

Re: Using firejail as security sandbox for your programs

Yeah, I know I've to keep 17.2 updated manually.

I was just wondering about the two different versions CL and synaptic are showing.

Which do I really have installed here 0.9.38.10 as per synaptic or 0.9.30 as per the terminal?

Re: Using firejail as security sandbox for your programs

I've been following the latest posts re firejail just to make sure my 17.2 Cinnamon is up to date. So, firejail --version shows me this firejail version 0.9.38 Firetools is Firetools version 0.9.30 Synaptic Mgr shows me this firejail installed 0.9.38-1 for both installed and latest version. Firetool...

Re: Updating Firejail..How to?? [SOLVED]

Because of the current discussion going on here https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=61&p=1266484#p1266484 now, I've resurrected this thread because I'd love to know the answer to the question in this topic. None of the links actaully says how to update a .deb installed Firejail. I installed...

Re: Do you use LibreOffice?

I've been using OO on and off then on to LO when it became an option. I just cannot find a decent way of getting Base to open a dbase that was created with Access though.

Re: New Minty Forum -Codes in older posts not displaying in code format anymore

in order to use the 'code select' now, the text has to be pasted, selected then hit the 'Code' button for it to appear as code in the post. That is how it has always worked. The code button isn't magical. It just inserts the code tags in your post. The smart bit is that if you have selected some te...
