Re: This time I *really* can't believe the Windows fanboys!

I think you don't get it...they are checking to see how programs, apps, various parts of the system's logs for crashing and the like...things that hamper system performance not to look at you e-mail to your Uncle Joe or a photo of your daughter at disneyland... In their license agreement and privac...

Re: This time I *really* can't believe the Windows fanboys!

Interesting article about the privacy issue here: http://news.softpedia.com/news/microsoft-s-joe-belfiore-collecting-windows-10-data-helps-the-ecosystem-495308.shtml If that is the case, then i am glad they do monitor the system...Windows 10 is working great and anything that helps improve it would...

Re: Absent flags on keyboard applet [OPEN]

For me the flags aren't showing anymore either, even though I have activated it in the keyboard applet settings. However, switching between different keyboard layouts just works fine. So I think it's a bug.

Re: Installing SW - harder in Linux than Windows?

It matters not whose fault it is, only that it is. The one responsible for the issue is the manufacturer of your tablet, not Linux. So maybe instead of wasting your time trolling here on a Linux forum, you should write a mail to the manufacturer and ask him to provide a driver for Linux or at least...

Re: Installing SW - harder in Linux than Windows?

Nearly every program install in Windows is offered as an executable (e.g. *.exe). Same is not true of Linux. If every program install outside of the SM offered a click to run GUI installer then Linux would be much closer to being on par with Windows when it comes to installing software. However, we...

Re: I need to understand something!

So Google hasn't taken GPL opensource code and made it there own. Also, you are saying that you can opensource your code but still be proprietary? It would mean than another type of license if I am understanding this correctly. Google has decided to reveal the source code of their product. That's a...

Re: Installing SW - harder in Linux than Windows?

You can argue all day long if you want, but installing software outside of the software center is harder in Linux than in Windows for the average user. That's just how it is. So please enlighten me: What makes it harder to double click on a .deb file compared to a .exe file? Does the extension real...

Re: I need to understand something!

I have been reading about Makerbot going from Opensource to Closed source. It made me think. How can Google be opensource? Open Source only means that the source code of a program is disclosed. Thus, commercial and copyrighted software can be open source as well. I think you may be confusin...

Re: This time I *really* can't believe the Windows fanboys!

It's the privacy concern that brought me to Linux, I used to Love Windows, but the way MS is treating us, by violating our privacy has OFFENDED me deeply, and guys still using windows 10 just don't want to research this subject. The reason it's not in Mainstream media is because the government and ...

Re: Installing SW - harder in Linux than Windows?

Linux is much more difficult though. I still haven't managed to get my graphics tablet working on Linux. It took like 30 seconds to install the drivers on windows, and it was up and running perfectly. How is it Linux' fault when the manufacturer of your tablet refuses to provide drivers for other o...

Re: Installing SW - harder in Linux than Windows?

To be fair, it isn't. Not at a technical level. Of course there are a lot of differences between .deb and .exe packages/files on a technical level but for the end-user the procedure is basically the same: download, double click, give admin rights/enter password, install the software. Yeah exploder....

Well, you could just as well download a .deb and double click on it to install software.. Same concept as with .exe

Re: Your opinions on Windows 10 so far..

I found not much logic in statement: Nice, when your profile shows that you're a regular customer of McDonald's Correct writing is: "Nice, when your profile shows (for them) that somebody's profile is regular customer of McDonald's". How is this statement not logical? From what I understo...

This may be a stupid question, but have you tried if your internal audio is detected with a device (speakers or headphone) plugged into it? Because my LMDE also doesn't show the internal audio unless something is plugged into it.
