It does for me; wants to install an extra 113 packages include oxygen icon theme (but not kdelibs5-plugins).
You are right, I was thinking of dpkg which does not install dependencies. Apt-get and aptitude both do.
My mistake.

Re: Virtual machine outsmarts me

The message to restart did that come form the Linux installation, or was it a Windows message? Yes, after installing an OS like Mint from within a live DVD it is normal to do a restart of the virtual machine to make use of the installed version instead of staying in the livedvd version. It does howe...

Re: How do I get and install Kdenlive for Linux Mint?

When that happens, and I can't check that since I am on KDE, then indeed there must be something wrong with the dependencies for kdenlive. I installed it using softwaremanager and it just works, but I most likely had all the dependencies already.

Re: How do I get and install Kdenlive for Linux Mint?

I tried to install kdenlive as well. I have Mint 17.3 64 bit cinnamon. The install from standard repo did not get me a working solution! Some kdenlive menu items displayed just "no text" and icons were missing from track buttons, video playback buttons and other buttons. Trying to save a project cr...

HP laptop with 173 cinnamon and win8.1 running. I installed vbox 5.0 with the extension pack in windows. Followed instructions and installed 17.3 xfce 32 bit in the box. After the install I restarted the machine, opened vbox, and xfce is listed in the panel. I clicked on the green start arrow and i...

Re: Delete files in several (sub)directories

I'll add another command that just worked for me for a very similar situation. find [pathname] -name "*.m3u" -type f -delete Leave off the -delete to return a list for confirmation. Since I was gun shy when running the command for the first time, I removed the -delete and ran the command as: find [...

Re: Delete files in several (sub)directories

If you have all the files listed in a text file, you should be able to do it from the command line. Here is a quick test I did to confirm: Here are the files to be deleted: [corey@localhost ~]$ ls -l ~/delete-test/sub-dir1/* -rw-rw-r-- 1 corey corey 0 Mar 22 10:29 /home/corey/delete-test/sub-dir1/t...

Re: Delete files in several (sub)directories

I would do one of two things: rm `find -name "*.m3u"` EDIT: THAT DON'T WORK IF YOU HAVE SPACES IN THE FILE OR DIRECTORY NAMES. (note the ` is the ~ key, not ' a regular single quote) or edit the m3u.list file and put each line in quotes and stick 'rm ' in front of each line, then "sh m3u.list"; eas...

Re: Rsync plus and minus list

What I do when backing up my system is this: I have my home folder with only a few folders which I want to back up, mostly in the .config folder. I use grsync but that doesn't matter since it is only a GUI for rsync and will translate what I setup into an rsync command. First I make a backup directo...

Re: Delete files in several (sub)directories

Thank you Pjotr. This was not what I expected to get in a scripting forum but hey, it's 2016, time to use GUI. I installed catfish as you wrote, searched and found my files, but deleting them is more difficult than you wrote: 4. Right-click mouse - Delete When I use ctrl-a to select all and then use...

Delete files in several (sub)directories

Hi all, I have a large music collection and today I am playing around with Amarok, the KDE music player. In Amarok I saw I have 323 ".m3u" files in the collection, scattered all over the folders and sub-folders. When I use: locate *.m3u > m3u.list I get all files mentioned in one list with the compl...

Then you have a keyboard mapping problem. I can type a lot of them: !/:.;§~"'(-è_çà)@^\"é&ù%$£# °+= € <> | Would you mind telling the rest of the world how you do it, which mapping you use? I mean just telling others they have a problem doesn't help. I also would like to know how to type the ...

Re: There is a great disturbance in the force!

Er, total aside, anyone else think the name "The Force" is just duff? The Force? That's the name of the mystical energy of the Universe? Call it 'Mana' or 'The spirit' or 'qwertyuiop' but 'The Force?' Bleh. Says a jedi. Doesn't it suit you? I know the movies and you Jedi's always talk about the for...

Note: I don't use KDE - I'm not sure why there is a KDE - but I do have it in a VBox guest. Because Mr altair4, KDE is THE DE for any Linux system. You might hate, I love it and with me so many others. So to say: "I'm not sure why there is a KDE" is a not so nice statement. Feel free to use any oth...

Re: Feature Request: Separate documents and config in HOME

Looking at your description of "the solution" it looks to me you have done that already. So did I, well a bit different but still. I use my home folder for all config files, hidden or not hidden, doesn't matter since I almost never see them anyway and I have got a separate /date folder with all my d...

Re: I'm Finally Free From Microsoft

To connect at home to the company's exchange server I use a small program called davmail. It sits between Thunderbird, or any other mail program you use, and the exchange server. On http://davmail.sourceforge.net/ you can read about and download it, and on http://davmail.sourceforge.net/linuxsetup.h...

Re: [SOLVED] Thunderbird show all recipients without more button

On a side-note I wonder why Thunderbird still puts that very large area in between the e-mails list and the contents of the selected mail message. All the info you see there is also in the mail list itself: sender, date and time, recipient (obviously you), subject. That's why I use the add-on Compac...

Re: What made you switch to Linux Mint?

Hi haven't really changed to Mint 17.3 yet. I have installed on my Windows 10 PC and use dual boot. This version is getting much better. What I am looking for a Windows replacement, therefore a Windows look and feel is important. (I know long time Linux users will be disappointed with this statemen...
