Re: confusion: cron jobs + boot-up manager

linx, users have their own separate crontab files probably to enable them to automate tasks without requiring root permissions. After all, you need to be root to use the /etc/cron.* directories or edit the system-wide crontab (/etc/crontab). I also find it a bit messy though : ) Also, if you prefer ...

Re: Keyboard combination for switching language input / layo

Hmm... I have tried "se" myself, and it is working. But you are right, it does show "sv" in the notification bar.

Re: Keyboard combination for switching language input / layo

You can probably configure this graphically, at least I did in MATE.
But anyway, you can also type this into the terminal:
setxkbmap -layout us,jp -option grp:switch,grp:ctrl_shift_toggle

just replace "jp" with your country acronym/abbreviation.

Re: Icon labels greyed out?

Nope, same problem. Although switching backgrounds does fix it temporarily, if this is what you mean. Clicking randomly on folders in the sidebar also seems to do the trick.

Re: installed program is not appearing in Menu

Did you try running it from the terminal?
Has it happened before with other programs you installed?

Also, what's the point in blaming Mint? Every computer program contains bugs...

Re: Icon labels greyed out?

I have the same problem in MATE.
I think it is a known bug though...
Probably will get fixed in 17.3.
